Her eyes flickered open slowly as she came back down to earth. He was still sprawled on top of her, still buried deep inside her, his body molded to hers, and she did not want it any different. The arms that had slid lifelessly from his shoulders lifted to cradle his head, buried between her hair and shoulder. He was as still as death, except that his skin was warm and his heart was beating hard against hers.

Landry knew he was crushing her and should move, but aside from not having the strength to make that move, he was loath to end the incredible intimacy. He was still blown away, his insides shattered by what they had just shared.

Lifting his head, he looked at her, feeling the electric jolt straight to his heart at the sight of her. Her hair tumbled freely over his pale blue pillowcase; her lips were swollen from his hungry dedication to them. Her eyes were slumbrous, indicating a woman well loved. Her beauty staggered him. He wanted her inhis bed, in his life for always. He wanted to wake up to the sight of her every single morning for the next hundred years or more.

And she was holding him. Of her own volition, she had her arms curved around his neck.

“Hi.”

“Hi.” A smile curved her lips and sent his libido soaring. He would not be waiting long for round two. “That was…” her voice tailed off as if she could not find the appropriate words to describe what had happened just now.

“Mind-blowing?” His lifted brow had her laughing. The laughter soon turned into a moan when he moved inside her.

“Landry,” she breathed.

“Is it a surprise that I want you again?” He was moving slowly, circling his hips, his eyes intense on her face. “That I would be aroused again? I want you so much it hurts here.” Taking her hand from around his neck, he laid it flat on his chest.

“Everywhere.” Lifting the hand, he kissed the palm and had her gasping when his tongue stroked the skin. “All night.” His voicehad thickened. “You’d best be prepared,” he murmured as he increased the pace, while he still watched her. “I don’t intend to stop.”

He was true to his word. The rosy tint was just streaking over the sky, indicating that it was dawn, when he reluctantly allowed her to get some rest. Easing off her, he pulled her into the crook of his arms, her head resting on his shoulder. Kady dropped into an exhausted sleep first and Landry followed almost immediately. For the first time in years, he slept dreamlessly.

He rose before her and woke with a frown when he felt the unfamiliar pressure against him. It didn’t take long for memories to come flooding back. She was here! As unbelievable as it was, she was here in his bed. He had the distinct pleasure of staring at her.

She looked sexily rumpled, her hair streaming on his shoulder. One hand was curled into a fist on his chest and her very shapely thigh was thrown over his. He had drawn the duvet over them before he drifted off to sleep, but her movements had shifted it during the night, allowing him to catch a glimpse of her breasts. Desire was like a living thing inside him. He had made love to her four times during the night and morning, emptying himself into her and starting all over again.

He had been greedy and desperate, and he was becoming so even now. A glimpse at the clock showed that it was past eleven. They had slept away most of the morning and he had no doubt that his sister or even his parents were trying to get in touch with him.

No doubt the guards or the crowd gathered outside while he had been beating that bastard to a pulp had reported back inside the ballroom. Closing his eyes briefly, he thanked Christ that he had silenced his phone at some point last night. He was not ready for the interrogation he knew was coming.

But he needed a gallon of coffee inside him. He also knew he was going to have to do some talking when she woke up. Carefully sliding her away from him, he swung his legs off the bed and just stood there staring at her. She was in his bed. And that’s bloody where she was going to stay. He knew he was going to have to do some convincing to keep her there, but now that the ice was broken, there was absolutely no way he was going to stand aside and accept her excuses and reasons.

Turning away, he quietly set about choosing something to put on before heading out of the room and down the stairs. At the foot of it, he collected the clothing they had left strewn on the beautifully treated oak floor. Grasping the poor excuse for a dress, he lifted it to his nose and inhaled her scent. There was no shame here, he mused. He was behaving like a boy with his first crush, and that’s precisely what she had been and so much more.

Shaking his head, he moved towards the living room to dump the clothing on a sofa before heading to the kitchen.

By the time he got the coffee brewing, the sun that had been struggling through the heavy clouds was shining its inadequate light through the large bay windows. Fortifying himself with the first cup of coffee, he reached for his phone and called his sister.

“It’s about time!”

“How bad is it?” Taking the cup with him, he walked over to the window.

“The parents are up in arms about your terrible behavior and drawing attention to yourself.” Kathy sat up in bed, pushing back the sleep mask. She blinked at the sunlight through her window and realized she had forgotten to pull the drapes. “Darling, the man is talking about pressing charges. You broke a couple of his ribs.”

“I should have broken his bloody neck,” he muttered, taking a sip of the coffee. “He was mauling her.”

“And rumor has it that even when he was down, you were still punching him.” She hesitated briefly. “I understand why, though. We’re all under a lot of stress and you were just reacting to it.”

“I was defending my woman; it’s as simple as that.”

The pause this time was a bit longer.

“Have things evolved then? You’re back together?”

He brooded into his coffee for a few seconds as he thought about it. “She’s still here. I don’t know what we are; I just know I’m not prepared to let her go.”

“Are you prepared to tell her the truth?”
