My heart slams against my chest.I’ve never stopped feeling this way every time I see her.

The wind whips her beach skirt around her shapely legs. She’s wearing her hair loose and I think about the way I’d tangled my fingers through it last night as I’d pleasured her repeatedly.

When she smiles, I’m struck once again by her beauty. She’s beautiful down to her soul. And she’s mine.I’ve never lost the thrill that she chose to be with me.That she took a chance to trust me even after everything she’d been through.

She passes me one of the glasses, then repeats her question.

“I never think about work when I’m with you.”

She thinks about that for a second.“You’re right. When you’re home, you’re there one hundred percent.

I put my hand on her waist and pull her against my side. Her sun-warmed skin sends a thrill through my body and I’m already counting down the minutes until tonight.I can’t get enough of her.Enough conversations.Enough hugs.Enough laughs.Enough making love.

I wonder how I lived before meeting her.I think I existed, but I didn’t know what it was like to really live.

She shifts to stand in front of me and runs her fingers from my abdomen to my chest. My stomach tightens.“You’re about to start a fire,” I warn.

“I’m not scared of the flames,” she says.

“Oh?What are you thinking about?”

“I was thinking about your grandmother.”

“Way to kill the mood,” I say.

She laughs.“I wasn’t trying to be sexy.”

“Well, you achieved your goal.”

She laughs again.“I was thinking about her because she knew when she hired me that I didn’t have the kind of experience needed for the job.She also knew I was lying about being married. But she hired me anyway.”

I think back to what my grandmother told me at the wedding.“She said that Poppy had never been her true intent for me.She knew when she met you that I would fall for you.”

“I wonder how she knew that?”

“Who knows? She’s a smart woman.”She loves Salem like she’s her real granddaughter.I found out just a few weeks ago that she didn’t think Doug and his family moved far enough away from Laketon Heights. So she’d orchestrated events that made them leave Texas.

I smile down at Salem and my gaze drifts to her bikini top.Her body is my addiction.

She notices me looking.“You have to behave.”She wags her finger.“And no silently declining.”

I chuckle at the memory.“We haven’t used that washer in a while.”

“Because we’re too busy with other ideas.”She lowers her hand to the waistband of my beach shorts.

“There’s something for you in my pocket,” I tell her.

She rolls her eyes.

“No, I’m serious.”

She gives me a dubious look but reaches into my pocket and pulls out a jewelry box.“Locke,” she says with a sigh.“You can’t give me a gift this often.”

“Sure, I can.Open it.”

She does and by the way her lips tremble, I know how much she likes the bracelet.

I’d asked her parents for some of her late grandmother’s earrings. Then had someone design a bracelet using those costume jewelry pieces along with real gems.
