Of course. Tal always was good with hide and seek, wasn’t she? Nothing like our fucking sister to be the one to run off from this hellhole. Bullet wound or not, she had to see some fucked up shit that night. Me ‘dying’ for one. Hell, if it hadn’t been for Tal, I would be dead…
Falling.Falling. Falling.
I was falling. Roe’s face was getting farther and farther away, my body soared through the fucking sky like a downed bird. I was going to die. The jagged cliffs and roaring water under me were an assurance that if the searing pain in my side didn’t kill me, then the pancake splat to the water would.
I’m so sorry, Pharaoh.
I couldn’t shake the flashbacks.
The red.
My name.
With Larry, the bitch, slapped back into oblivion of my head, I could see it all now. Tiffany, though a raging bitch that she was, didn’t deserve the death I gave her.
She’d said my name, over and over. Yet she didn’t scream. She must have been trying to keep Xenia from waking up.
Fuck.
Xenia.
She didn’t even wake up. My hands had pulled the cover over her curly black head and pressed down hard on her neck.
“Fuck,” I screamed into the air around me. Still fucking falling. “I deserve to die.”
The echo of my brothers’ screams and my own bounced in my head. The silence of my mind was deafening.
And then, I landed.
The pain of the water was a divine fucking punishment, feeling like cement that immobilized me instantly. I couldn’t see. My vision was blind to the pain. Their screams were the last thing I heard before I let the water drag me into the hell I knew I deserved.
“Fuck off,”I said, shaking and battering my head from the memories.
That wouldn’t help me now. As my hands lowered, a flash occurred, and blood covered my hands, blurring the tattoos and dripping down my fingertips. The next second, another flash, and they were clean.
“You okay? The parcel is…fragile. You may want to retrieve it quickly. Not sure how much time it has to be…reviewed.”
Judith was still there. Still fucking glaring at me despite her action figure size. Fuck me, I had to get a hold of myself.
Unhinged Judie is a biiiiig no no.
“Yep. Thanks, sweet cheeks. You got your payment already, so unless you wanna give me one of those gummy blowies, you can go.”
The woman didn’t make a different expression, and instead pushed her horn-rimmed glasses up her face and turned away from me, walking away to do whatever the fuck her old ass did.
It was always the people you never dreamed of doing the darkest shit. Soccer moms made the best dealers, the maid killed the socialite, and, of course, grandma was the most efficient assassin.
Walking over to the group gathered around the trash can, I made my usual greeting.
“Sup trash pandas? Did you already pawn my bed? I kinda need it back.”
“I would miss that bad ass, don’t fuck with me, man, scent you carry too much, Judes.” Garreth snickered, turning his chiseled ass toward me.
Fucking kid was twenty, and I had no damn business playing with him, but fuck me if he didn’t make me want to commit to some play time.
And hellllo.
Zee and Fallon are fucking babies compared to my brothers. Why should Gee and Roe be the only age-gap taps?
