I shove the handle of the knife all the way into her mouth until it hits the back of her throat. She holds back a gag as shock flashes in her eyes, and her lips close around it.

Good. I like the idea of staying unpredictable to Cassidy Chase.

I withdraw it from her mouth, my thumb with the cut brushing along her lower lip before I murmur, “Swallow for me.”

She does, emitting a hoarse moan as her eyes drift closed while she devours every drop.

I take the knife to my mouth without breaking eye contact while I clean the coppery taste from it with unhurried movements.

Cassidy follows me with darkened eyes, longing burning in them.

“You taste addictive, baby,” I confess near her lips.

“I want to return the favor now,” she says sweetly, nothing butwickedness dancing across her features as her hands immediately move to my vest, trying to peel it off me.

I snatch her wrists with a grin before she gets very far.

“Ah, ah, ah,” I chuckle, amused at her vitality, “We still have to call the cleanup crew.”

Her lips part in exaggerated offense. “Well, that feels incredibly unfair.”

A laugh rumbles out of me as I reel her into me by her hips.

“Get dressed, my little reaper,” I tease her against her mouth. “We’ll have plenty of time to continue this later.”

The look she gives me promises she fully intends to collect on that.

Smiling to herself, she starts reattaching her gear. The shift is almost comical, one moment she’s flushed and wrecked against me, the next she’s sliding knives back into holsters and yanking tactical straps in place like we didn’t just destroy each other in front of a mirror.

I fit my gloves back on while studying the way she moves around the room, completely transfixed by her.

Somehow, Cassidy looks just as vicious smiling as she does covered in blood.

Before we leave, I detour to what I’m assuming isjackinthebox149’soffice.

The room smells like leather, cigar smoke, and arrogance. Expensive monitors line the desk beside stacks of files and hard drives.

Perfect.

I sweep every piece of tech I can find into a duffel bag, laptop, external drives, phones, and tablets. Anything that is useful and might lead somewhere bigger once I crack into it later.

Cassidy lounges against the doorway, watching me work, one brow raised.

“You’re stealing his entire digital life?”

I zip the bag shut. “I’m a sentimental person.”

That earns me a chuckle as we finally make our way out of the house.

Neither of us speaks while we head for the car. The adrenaline crash is finally starting to settle in around the edges.

Once we’re inside, I start the engine and turn the music up loud enough for heavy rock to fill the silence between us.

Streetlights blur across the windshield as I pull away from the property.

Cassidy glances over at me, a look of our kind of fucked up enjoyment, “Just a typical weeknight.”

I huff out a laugh, eyes staying on the road. “Makes me wonder what normal couples do for date night.”
