I grab the rest of my things and head to the living room. I stand there and watch my mon rêve. I wasn’t looking for anyone when she came into my life. But now that I have her? I don’t know what I did before I met her. I smile as I watch her dance around the room. When she sees me, she stops and laughs.

“How long have you been watching me?”

“Forever.” I smile.

She comes over and I hold her tight.

“I love you so much,” I say as I kiss her.

“I love you. More than I thought I could ever love someone.”

We get in the car and head to my parents’ house. It’s usually easier for us to just walk, but since she wants to stop at the store, we have to take the car.

“Do you want to have babies?” she asks me.

“Of course I do. Do you?”

“Oui. I want to haveyourbabies.” She grins.

“Well, that’s good. Because I don’t want you to have anyone else’s babies.” I laugh.

We grab a cake and some cookies, I know my maman will have dessert, but it never hurts to have more.

After we finish dinner, we help my maman clean up the table and head into the living room. I stand up and walk over to Genevieve. I get down on one knee and look at her.

“Mon rêve. You are everything to me. There’s no one in this world that I could love more than you. Will you marry me?”

I wipe the tears that are falling down her face.

“Oui. I will marry you. And I have something for you too.”

Genevieve hands me a black and white picture. It looks like a blob and I hear my maman gasp.

“Are you pregnant?” I whisper as I stare at our blob.

“I am. I didn’t want to tell you until I was sure.” She sniffles.

I stand up and pick her up.

“You have made me so damn happy,” I say as I pepper her face with kisses.

My family stands and surrounds us in a group hug. We hear her parents crying and congratulating us over the video chat.

Three months ago my life was ordinary. Now I have a fiancée and a baby on the way. Life is perfect.
