Last night, Margot freaked out about taking off her coat. And she never fully undressed either, even though Brooks and I were both nude when we slept.

So today, she’s going to do some modeling for me.

I pull the door open of the store that I know she has to be inside. Mainly because it’s the only place that sells lingerie.

There’s a ding from a bell above as I walk through. It makes me wince and look around to make sure I haven’t already been caught.

I mean, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I did, but I’m a guy who likes a surprise.

Sue me.She might after I metaphorically blue-ball her.

The store’s empty, which is perfect. So I make my way to the counter, where a single female employee stands.

The moment she lays eyes on me, she smiles.

“Hi. Do you need some help?”

“Hey,” I greet, keeping my voice low. “I am looking for my girlfriend. I think she just walked in here a little bit ago.”

The girl looks disappointed but hides it well as she says, “Is her name Margot?”

“Bingo.”

With a smile, she motions her hand toward the dressing rooms. “You can have a seat on the couch. She has a pretty big haul to try on.”

When she starts out from behind the counter, as if she’s headed to tell Margot I’m here, I stop her.

“No, no. You don’t have to tell her I’m here. I’ll surprise her.”

She doesn’t say anything, just kind of shrugs and nods dismissively at the same time, before turning around. So I push my luck.

“In fact,” I add with all the charm I have, making her look over her shoulder, “I was supposed to bring her coffee from that cute little shop four stores down.”

The girl glances at the dressing rooms, then back at me as I continue. “I’d pay good money if you’d be awesome enough to run down and grab two lattes.”

Her head draws back, and she looks me up and down.

Shit. She’s either about to say no or call the cops. So I pull out a Hail Mary. I reach into my back pocket and grab my wallet.

“Sorry, that was rude.” I start counting off hundred-dollar bills. “But she’ll kill me if I forget her caffeine.” I glance up to see her brows raised, so I stop at three. “You can keep the change. Just take your time, there’s no rush.”

The frown she wore turns into a megawatt smile before she faces me.

“Coincidentally, I’m due for a fifteen-minute break,” she offers. “But I’ll have to lock you in. You know, so you don’t steal anything.”

I give a nod as she slyly takes the cash from my hand.

“Of course. Not a problem.”

With a sigh, she starts past me, but just when I think I’m in the clear, the store girl beelines for the dressing rooms, raising her voice. “Hey, your boyfriend’s here.”

She turns and looks at me, shoving the three hundred dollars in her pocket before she shrugs. “You could be a weirdo.”

I roll my eyes and mouthScramas Margot walks out of the dressing room, sadly fully clothed, with a confused look on her face.

“My what?” she says before she lays eyes on me and smiles. “Oh. Boyfriend…right.”

The little bell on the door dings again as the girl leaves. Margot cranes her neck to look over my shoulder just as I hear the lock click.
