The chemistry between them wasn’t going anywhere.

“We’re still definitely not dating,” she said haughtily, as though she was trying to brush aside the tension sizzling between them. “I don’t want to date right now.”

“Fine by me.”

Zeus didn’t believe in her curse, but he also didn’t care if right now she just wanted to use him for his dick. He’d get her to come around to seeing things his way eventually, one way or another.

Chapter 17

Yasmine

Maybe hearing that she was probably just like everyone else who was struggling to find their happily-ever-after was supposed to be a good thing, but right now, it didn’t feel like it. And she didn’t know why.

It didn’t feel as if Zeus was making fun of her, but she still wanted to kick him.

Sadly, she also still wanted to fuck him.

Even as she found his blasé attitude about her curse infuriating, it was also hot how little he cared about the possible repercussions. Most of the time, she didn’t tell guys about the curse until the relationship had run its course. A few had already known about it beforehand because they went to The Outlands, but they’d wanted to try with her, anyway. Or so they’d said. The third one had been suspiciously eager to date her and find his real happily-ever-after.

Which was why she’d done nothing but scene, no strings attached, at the club ever since she and Mason didn’t work out.

And there was a prime example of the curse, but she didn’t want to give Zeus too many details about the guy who had planned to marry her in case he realized exactly who she was talking about. At the moment, Zeus didn’t seem to realize there was any connection between them except Sarah, and she had a feeling if she wanted to get laid, she needed to keep it that way. Maybe it wouldn’t bother him that she’d been engaged to Mason, but maybe it would.

Either way, not something she wanted to risk if she wanted to have some fun tonight.

“Come on,” she said, finishing off the last bite of cake and getting to her feet haughtily. “We need to wash off our masks.”

After which, it was either going to be more gay hockey, or she was going to throw herself at him. It really could go either way at this point. Really, both seemed like good options.

Zeus followed her to the bathroom, though she didn’t fool herself into thinking she was the one leading. If he’d wanted to take charge, he could have. She could feel him at her back, a large, looming presence that made her spine tingle. It was honestly a bit unnerving, even as her pulse picked up. Having him behind her like this… made her want to run.

In a fun way.

Run and be chased and caught…

Down girl. Stop letting the fantasies get away from you.

It wasn’t like she knew whether he would even be into that.

But man, it would be hot if he was.

Yasmine got one of her soft washcloths and wet it under the sink.

“Sit down,” she said, gesturing at the toilet, since it was the only place to sit. With a slightly bemused look, Zeus sat. She bet he wasn’t used to being bossed around.

Even if he wasn’t a Dom, the confidence he had made him move through the world like one. He was probably used to being in charge in the bedroom, even if he wasn’t kinky. At least, that’s how he acted.

Wouldn’t it be funny if it was all a front, and he was actually subby, too? Maybe that’s why he kept pulling back at crucial junctures—he needed her to make the first move. This would be a one-night thing if that was the case, but Yasmine still wasn’t against it. Disappointing sex might actually be a good thing because that would be the final nail in the coffin of making sure they never dated, and she never got her hopes up.

With a final swipe, Yasmine finished cleaning off Zeus’ head. He did look a little shinier now. And without all the weird mask goop no longer hiding his face, there was no more hiding how hot he was.

Now, she didn’t know whether or not to hope he was bad in bed. Because while it might help her overall agenda if he was… what a waste that would be.

“Your turn,” he said, getting to his feet. Yasmine tipped her head back to look up at him, frowning.

“I can do it myself.”

“Sit.” He pivoted, and Yasmine found herself moving, even though she’d meant to stand her ground.
