“Okay.” She opened the soda and took a few sips before she picked up the tests and went into the bathroom.

I tried to keep myself occupied while I waited, so I made the bed and straightened up the room, even though there was nothing wrong with it.

I dropped the shirt in my hand when Mycah stepped out from the bathroom.

“Everything good?” I asked as I approached her.

“Yes. It’s going to take a few minutes.”

I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her lips. I couldn’t help but picture how she could possibly look in a few months with my baby inside of her.

“How are you feeling about all of this?”

“I feel nervous but excited if I am. I’ve always wanted kids, and this baby will be a blessing.”

I tilted her head and tongue-kissed her fine ass. My dick got hard, but I had to remember we didn’t have that much time.

“Definitely a blessing, like you are to me. It’s safe to say I love you.”

Her breath caught in her throat. “Kairo.” She wrapped her arms around my neck. “I love you too.”

We embraced for a little bit, then separated so she could do what she had to do. I paced the room looking between her and the bathroom until it was time to check the tests.

As I looked at each test, I saw the pink lines or the wordpregnantin the little window.

I picked up all four tests and carried them into the bedroom. Mycah was already dressed in a red sundress and sandals.

“What do they say?” she asked as she bit her bottom lip.

The biggest smile spread across my face as I showed her each test.

“We’re parents!”

Mycah took the tests from my hands as tears streamed down her face.

“We’re going to be parents,” she whispered as her hand went to her stomach.

I kneeled on the floor in front of her, then placed my hand over hers. I gazed into her eyes and just stared at her. It was at that moment I noticed just how much her skin glowed.

“Are you happy?”

“Very.” She smiled as the tears still fell.

“That’s all that matters. I’m over the fucking moon.”

And I really was. I was the oldest and the first one to have a child. It was up to me to continue the bloodline because sometimes, my brother had me worried. I knew he would be a great uncle, though. There was no question how Karma would be, because she loved kids even though she didn’t have any of her own.

“I don’t want to tell anyone until a doctor confirms it and that our baby is okay.”

“That works for me.” I kissed her, then stood. “Let’s go have dinner with our people.”

The day Kairoand I had dinner with our families, I had the urge to tell them the news, but I thought it’d be best if we waited. My mother kept looking at me like she knew something, and when she asked me at the end of the night, I had to lie to her. I hated lying, but I didn’t want to get everyone’s hopes up for nothing.

Our families had gotten along well, and I was thankful for that. It was obvious how much Kairo loved his family, especially his siblings. His sister was spoiled, but she didn’t act entitled. She and I got along really well, and we hung out with just the two of us since we’d met. Even when we weren’t together, we talked every day. Chanel would always be my best friend, but I had room to make other friends. Plus, Karma would be my baby’s aunt, so it was only right that we got along.

Kairo had been super attentive to me since my pregnancy was confirmed by the doctor. He rubbed my feet every day after work. He made sure to switch my coffee to decaf, which was an adjustment. He had food delivered almost every day but sent it to the staff to make it not look so suspicious. There were people who suspected something, but we hadn’t confirmed anything. It wasn’t their business, and they probably wouldn’t find out until the baby came. We hadn’t discussed that yet, but I made a note to mention it on our date.

We spent a lot of time together, and it was convenient that we lived so close to each other. Kairo officially adjusted his morning walk time, and we walked every morning together. Kairo was concerned about me doing certain things, but my doctor informed him that I could do anything I wanted as long as I was comfortable. I hardly showed since I was only four months, so it was easy to hide it. I wasn’t sure what I would do once I started showing, but that was another thing we needed to discuss.
