His eyebrows bunched as he looked at me.
“Hey. You good?”
“I am. I was just taking a little break.” My tone came out with more of a bite than I planned.
Kairo’s head jerked back, but before he could respond, his friend came over and stood right next to him.
“Hi, I’m Angela.” She stuck her hand out, and I almost ignored it, but there was no need for me to be rude.
She didn’t know anything about me or the tightness I felt in my chest when I saw how friendly she and Kairo were. It wasn’t her fault that Kairo hadn’t said anything about her being all over him.
“Hi, I’m Mycah. It was nice to meet you. I have to get back to my post.” I smiled.
Before I turned to leave, I noticed the look on Kairo’s face. I could tell he felt some type of way about our quick interaction, but he couldn’t say anything about it withAngelastanding so close. She acted like she was staking her claim, and I was sure Kairo knew that I didn’t like what I saw.
On the inside, I was seething, but I plastered on a smile as I made my way back to my post. I wasn’t sure if I was overreacting or not, and I didn’t have time to process it because I had work to do. I couldn’t wait for this thing to be over so Kairo and I could have a conversation.
The day had finally cometo a close, and I couldn’t be happier. The turnout had been better than I expected, and I had Mycah to thank for that. I hated that we didn’t get to spend time together, and when I did see her, her energy was off. I was certain it was because of Angela, but she had nothing to worry about. Angela wasn’t important, and she for sure wasn’t a threat to Mycah. I just hoped she would give me the time to tell her that.
My siblings told me they met her, and they both liked her. Karma gushed over how pretty she was. I wanted our families to have an official meeting since she said her parents were coming into town soon. I just needed us on the same page first.
The plan was to meet at her place when we were done, but she hadn’t said anything. I hardly saw her, even when we werecleaning up, and I couldn’t or wouldn’t approach her about our private affairs in front of all the people at the event. I already knew multiple people watched us to see what they could find out. Even Mark’s ass would watch us at work since he almost caught us. He asked about her when he came over to my game, and I only told him where she was set up and left it at that. I wasn’t sure if he ever went over there, and I didn’t care. I didn’t think he was even asking for his benefit; he was fishing for shit he wouldn’t get. He had been cool all this time, but I wasn’t too sure anymore.
We didn’t have to clean up everything, because I hired a cleaning crew; plus, there were plenty of volunteers that helped. Luckily, most people utilized the extra garbage cans that were placed around the park, so it wasn’t overly trashed. There was still some trash that had to be picked up because some people liked to throw shit wherever they were. I was happy that everyone I talked to had a good time.
Mycah left before I did because I had to talk to a few people. I managed to talk my boy Boston into getting two of his artists to perform. He was the CEO of Brooks Records, and he had a dope roster of artists. He and I chopped it up before he left, and he introduced me to his wife, Harvest. They told me about their crazy love story.
Once I did everything I had to do, I went straight to Mycah’s place. Koda picked Shadow up from my house on his way back to the hotel, so I didn’t have to worry about him. Since it was planned for me to go to Mycah’s, I had a bag packed in the trunk of my truck. There was no reason for me to make any detours, and I was anxious to see her.
I parked in the parking garage of her building and headed up the elevator.
My bag was on my shoulder, and I put my hand in my pocket after I knocked on the door.
“Hey.” Mycah greeted me when she opened the door. “You came right on time. Cash and I just got back in from a walk.” She turned away from the door and walked into her living room.
There was no kiss, hug, or anything. She didn’t even bother with waiting for me to enter.
“I was about to take a shower because I feel so dirty,” Mycah said as she took her socks off.
“Can I join you?”
“I guess.” She shrugged.
She didn’t seem too eager about it, but I wasn’t going to not get in with her. I needed to be in her presence and touch on her. It had been way too many hours since I had gotten my fill of her.
Mycah turned and walked toward her bedroom, and I was right behind her. While she went into the bathroom and turned on the shower, I grabbed what I needed out of my bag, then put the bag in her closet.
The bathroom had already gotten foggy by the time I walked in. Mycah was in the shower, so I wasted no time taking my clothes off and joining her.
She hardly looked at me when I got in. I didn’t like that shit because I already told her I knew how to communicate, and I assumed she knew how to do the same. I see that wasn’t the case, or she just wasn’t ready to. This was new, and I knew how it looked when she saw Angela so close to me and touching me. I didn’t think nothing of it, because it meant nothing to me, but when I thought about it, I realized how it could have made Mycah feel. She was entitled to her feelings, but I needed her to speak on it.
“What are you doing?” Mycah asked when I took her bodywash from her hand, along with the net thing she washed with.
“I’m going to wash you up, then when we get out, we are going to talk about why you have a stank attitude.”
She sucked her teeth, but I ignored it and kissed her lips.
Nothing else was said as I washed her up, then cleaned myself. We were outside all day, so we both washed up twice, but the second time for her, she did it herself.
