"Okay, good. Well, I left for a while to get some food from the deli around the corner. That might be why you missed me."
I pause, waiting to see if he'll buy it. Sober James definitely wouldn't. He would have instantly noticed that something was wrong with my tone.
But drunk James...
"Next time, tell me before you leave," he says, and I breathe a sigh of relief.
"I will."

ADAM
I'm typically a light sleeper.
Both out of habit and out of necessity. Growing up, I was usually the one who had to get my siblings out of bed and to school, which required me to have an excellent internal and external alarm clock.
And in my military days, my sleep patterns got even worse, till it felt like I could never truly rest. Like, even with my eyes closed, I was hyperaware of everything that moved, constantly waiting for the thing to jump out of the shadows.
But that wasn’t true in this case. Today, I slept like the dead.
It's not until I hear the incessant buzzing of a phone alarm that I finally drag myself from the slumber. I open my eyes, peering at the sun streaming in from one of the windows. It takes me a second to realize where I am and what happened.
It takes me a second longer to figure out that the hairy arm thrown around my chest belongs to Sam.
I pick it up and give it back to him. I don't really mind it being here. You can’t be squeamish when you’re doing the type of stuff we do, because towards the end we usually pass out in a tangle of limbs anyway, and it's pretty normal to wake up with a dick in your face.
Or sometimes you get lucky and wake up with a sweet, soft body plastered against you, and you get to have a little more morning fun before the day breaks.
Which is kind of what I was looking forward to this morning.
Except she’s gone.
I glance around, noting that Jake is gone too. Probably out for a morning run. Or maybe they’re in the bathroom getting busy. However, the shower is not on, and the stillness of the atmosphere tells me that no one else is here.
I'm proven right when the door opens and closes, Jake’s heavy footsteps leading in. They’re not accompanied by lighter pads.
“Rise and shine,” Jake says with a ridiculously bright smile on his ridiculously handsome face. He’s dressed in joggers and shirtless, a sheen of sweat running down his muscles. Probably got eye fucked by all the WASPS that live in our neighborhood again. They typically wake up and have tea on their veranda, smiling and waving while he’s jogging shirtless. I've told him about this, and he pointed out that they do the same thing when I’m out mowing the lawn or fixing the deck, too.
I think they think we’re gay, given how close we are and given that we live together, but it doesn’t stop them from admiring the goods. Not that I mind much anyway.
“Where did she go?" I ask as I get up, padding to the bathroom, butt-naked for nature’s call.
“I don’t know,” he says. “She was gone by the time I woke up.”
“Meaning she left before dawn?”’
“Yup. Probably snuck out around midnight. I wish she hadn’t. This neighborhood’s not all that safe, contrary to popular belief, and I could have given her a ride if she wanted to get home so badly.”
I snort. I don’t point out that the whole reason she probably left so early was to avoid actually talking to any of us once the deed was done, so I doubt she would have wanted to suffer through a whole car ride with him.
Although I'm not clear on why she didn't want to. We had a good time, by every indicator.
I don't even know how many times she orgasmed, all over me, in our mouths, on our cocks.
Sometime during the night, it became clear that her boldness was not a substitute for experience.
In bed, it was clear she wasn’t used to certain things, and once we understood that, we were much gentler with her and showed her a more gradual climb to ecstasy. We explored more with her, too, teasing, caressing, seducing.
