“Yeah,” I replied nervously because I had no idea where he was going with this, and the unknown was a little intimidating these days.
“It’s always been something I had a special knack for,” he continued, lowering the top of the computer so he could see me better. He steepled his hands together and locked eyes with me.“It’s come in handy over the years, and I’ve been able to find people that are otherwise hard to locate.”
“Okay, you’re killing me with stalling,” I groaned, resting my head on my neck.“This feels like bad news, so just spit it out already.Who did you find, and how is it going to ruin my life?”
He pressed his lips together and then let his shoulders fall before speaking.
“I found Kaitlyn.”
I gasped, covering my mouth with my hands as tears filled my eyes.I wasn’t sure if it was because Dom had managed to find my daughter, or if it was because it was the first time I’d heard someone else say her name.

Dom
“You found Kaitlyn?”Jo asked, her eyes wide as her fingers trembled over her lips.
I nodded, giving her a moment to process the news before I dove in any deeper.
“How?”She shook her head before cocking it to the side and looking at me.“I only told you her name, nothing else.”
“I know.”I paused for a moment because what I said next was bound to piss her off, and rightfully so.
“Okay, then how did you find her?”She shrugged, bewilderment etched across her face.“How are you so sure that she’smyKaitlyn?”
I leaned back in my seat and rested my hands over my stomach so I looked as un-threatening as possible.I didn’t want Jo to feel like she couldn’t trust me, but it seemed like no matter what I did, I kept going down that path regardless.
“When you and Tray first started dating, he had me look into things.”
“What kind of things?”Her stare turned icy as her attitude immediately shifted.
I licked my lips and took in a slow, deep breath before releasing it.
“Everything. He wanted a full background check on you.Knowing who your uncle was, he thought it would be beneficial to know as much about you as possible. We had no idea if you truly left your uncle or if you were pretending so you could get close to Tray and help your uncle destroy him.”
“Wow.”She exhaled harshly, glaring at me.
