“So, what color are we doing today?” I ask with a bounce in my step as I walk over to the chair.
“Ah, can’t say. Blondie told me it was a surprise.” She thumbs toward Gabe, then swivels the chair around and away from any mirrors. “Let’s get to work, my lovelies.”
Three hours later, we’re back in the car and grabbing a quick bite to eat before finally heading to the shops. I’m not sure how Gabe and Noah plan to do everything in one day, but they swear we’ll have time to go shopping and go to the beach. I don’t think they know what it’s like to shop with a woman.
I watch my hair run over my shoulders through the windows reflection, a happy smile playing along my lips. I was really surprised when Maze finally spun the chairaround and let me see the end result. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting, but I love it. Dark green from the roots that falls into a bright yellow at the ends, giving a beautiful ombre hairstyle.
“You sure you like it?” Gabe asks for the millionth time with a nervous tone.
I take hold of his hand above the restaurant table where we wait for our early lunch. “I love it, I promise. It’s perfect. Thank you.” I take Noah’s hand as well. “Both of you.”
The waitress comes over with our food, peering down at our hands with surprise before setting down the plates as we pull apart. She then stands to the side, awkwardly shifting her weight from one foot to the other, wringing her hands.
“I don’t mean to be a bother… but I was wondering if I could maybe… get an autograph and a picture?” Her eyes keep bouncing back to mine, like she’s afraid I may get mad that she’s interrupting our date. She swallows and continues. “My dad’s a really huge fan and he’d kill me if I didn’t ask.”
Normally, I probably would get mad. Most times when women approach them it’s for different reasons. But this girl sounds genuine and maybe even too young to try anything with them.
Noah and Gabe look at me for permission and I shrug. Gabe looks back at the waitress with his megawatt grin. “Is it okay if we have lunch with our girlfriend first? Then we’ll do the pictures and sign whatever you want. We’re kind of trying to give her a special day.”
Her eyes go wide as she blushes. “Yes, of course, take your time.” She looks at me with an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry for interrupting your day.”
I wave her off. “It’s fine. It’s the kind of thing that happens when you’re dating two famous guys I guess.” I laugh.
We eat the rest of our lunch in peace and by the end, as promised the boys give the waitress what she asked. I suspect she felt a bit guilty because she asked me to be in one of the pictures with them as well.
When we exit the restaurant, deciding to walk down to Fifth Ave since we aren’t far, I laugh to myself. “How long do you think it will take her to post that picture of us and tell the world we’re together?”
“I give it by the end of the day, and we’ve gone viral. The media is going to have a field day with that.” Noah chuckles.
“Good. I want the world to know your ours.” Gabe kisses the side of my head.
Gabe’s arm rests along my shoulders, while Noah’s is around the back of my waist, and I hold both by the back. Thanks to my height and reaching theirs in my heels, it makes this position a lot easier.
“And I want the world to know you belong to me. If I have to wear two engagement rings on my fingers to make it clear, I will.” I nod my head with determination.
“Hmm, that’s not a bad idea.” Gabe winks.
“Or we could just get them tattooed on.” Noah shrugs.
I stop in my tracks, stunned by his words. Removing myself from their hold, I turn to face them. “You two, skin virgins, would get a tattoo for me?”
“Well, it wouldn’t be huge, just a ring on our finger. Make it pretty obvious we’re taken for good.” Noah smirks, while Gabe doesn’t look so sure.
“You okay with this, Pretty Boy?” I giggle because I swear, he’s sweating just at the thought of doing it.
“I…” He laughs nervously and rubs the back of his neck.
“Is it the permanent commitment part that freaks you out? Or the ink?” I ask slowly, worry surfacing at the thought that he might not think what’s happening between us will last.
“No! It’s the needle part, not the commitment. I promise I want to commit to you in every way possible. I just… I’ve seen my parents use needles my whole childhood. I know it’s not the same, but it’s a fear I kind of developed.” He looks down at his feet with shame.
I take a step into him, cupping his face with my hands. “Hey, you have nothing to be embarrassed about. A lot of people are afraid of needles, most without actual reason. Yours are very valid and I can understand why you might be a bit hesitant to do this.”
I smile tenderly at him. “If it’s too much we don’t have to, but if you think it’s something you can get past, then we’ll take our time. Maybe sitting through a session will help you overcome your fear. We don’t have to do it right now either.”
“Yeah, okay. I’ll think about it.” He gives me a sad smile.
“I love you, Gabriel. I’d never force you to do something you aren’t comfortable with.” I press my lips to his softly.
