Savannah is good. So good it’s clear she’s been doing this a while and not just something she’s taken up since the recent attack, so it makes sense Logan taught her.

I still have no idea how it came about or how they became friends to begin with, but if this is what their friendship was built on, then I can only be grateful to Logan, even if I do wish he’d put more clothes on.

Speaking of Logan, his eyes meet mine in the mirror, and he calls for a timeout.

“You’re doing good, especially since you’re still healing.”

She smiles at him, and it makes something ugly clench in my gut. God, how I wish it wasmeon the receiving end of that smile.

“Thanks,” she says and takes a drink. “You good to keep going?”

I should leave, I know that, but I can’t force my feet to move.

I can’t take my fucking eyes off her.

“Actually…” Logan starts and nods his head toward me. “I’ve got somewhere to be, but I’m sure Harley won’t mind taking over. Will you, Harley?”

What is he playing at?

Savannah’s attention snaps to me for the first time, her eyes widening as she realizes I’ve been watching. I step into the room and lean against the wall, putting on a casual front when really, it feels like my heart is about to beat out of my chest.

“You good with that?” I ask her, not wanting to make her uncomfortable.

She looks to Logan, as though silently asking if he thinks this is really a good idea, and I can’t say that doesn’t sting. They have a silent conversation between themselves before she finally meets my gaze once more.

“Okay,” she agrees. “Let’s do this.”

I nod, inwardly grinning to myself. This is the opening I’ve been waiting for, so let’s just hope I can survive it.

Something tells me that doing this could change everything, and I don’t know whether it’ll be for the better or worse.

Though really, things can’t get much worse for me than they already are right now.

FORTY-TWO

SAVANNAH

Harleyand I silently stare at each other from opposite sides of the room as Logan grabs his things and heads out. He doesn’t say a word as he leaves and closes the door behind him, the traitor.

I understand why he’s doing what he is, since I know for a fact he has absolutelynowhereto be, but it’s still irritating. He wants us to talk things out, but I honestly don’t think that’s a good idea. He’s been telling me for months—hell, almost years at this point—that I should just tell Harley the truth and that everything will work out, and maybe he’s right, but that doesn’t make it easy.

He takes a step forward and grabs his hoodie by the neck before pulling it over his head, taking his undershirt with it and leaving me to ogle his bare chest. It hits me then that this is the first time I’ve seen him without the shirt, and good god, is it a sight.

Whenever we’ve been together, it’s always been quick and in public, so I’ve never had a chance to look at him. Certainlynot like this. His smooth, tanned skin begs me to run my fingers along it and explore the grooves in his abs.

Because, of course, the guy has a six-pack.

Why does he have to be so good to look at? Things would be a hell of a lot easier if he wasn’t.

He’s silent as he heads to the corner of the room and starts wrapping his hands with tape, leaving me to stare at his back, and Christ, how is his back so sexy?

Is that a thing I just didn’t know about? Never in my life did I think I would find a back so attractive, yet here we are.

“So, how long have you been sparring with Logan?” he asks, finally breaking the silence, and I have to swallow the lump in my throat. Is he mad about mine and Logan’s friendship? I’ve always tried my best to hide it, not wanting to come between the two of them.

When I don’t answer, he turns to look at me over his shoulder and raises a brow.

I clear my throat. “Since freshman year.”
