“If figured since you’re off that day and the next, it would be best.”His grin was wolfish.“You might need the recovery time.”
She laughed, sheer delight in the sound.“I can handle whatever you throw out, pal.”
“Me, sure. The others?”He pursed his lips, but couldn’t quite hide the smirk.“I think you’re going to have your hands full.”
“Big talk,” she scoffed gleefully.
“We’ll see.”Still smirking, he picked up his chopsticks.
She waited, but he simply went back to eating, and after a moment she gave him a light boot under the table.“You’re not going to tell me about them?”
He swallowed the sushi in his mouth.“Nope.”
“Why not?”
“Because it’s a surprise.”He glanced up.“That’s how you wanted it, right?”
That had been the fantasy, but now that it was reality, she didn’t think she could handle the wait.“I changed my mind.”
“Too bad.I’m not telling.”
“You have to!”
“No, I don’t.”He continued to eat while she sputtered.“You already know me, and Sawyer.Isn’t that enough?”
“No.”She sulked into her beer.“You’re really not going to tell me?”
He shook his head.“Nope.”
“Well, nuts.”
He looked amused.“You’re awful cute when you’re frustrated.”
“Then I must be fucking adorable right now,” she muttered, and stabbed her dragon roll with her chopsticks.
He sighed, long and loud.“This is how you wanted it, Bailey.”
“I told you, I changed my mind.”Darting a look from under her lashes, she tried her best pout.“Please?Just one thing.”
He hesitated.“One thing?”
“About each of them,” she amended quickly, sensing victory.“I won’t ask anything else, I swear.”
“You promise?”
“Cross my heart,” she vowed, and drew an X over her breast to prove it.
He tapped his fingers on the table.“If I give you this, you have to give me something in return.”
A warning bell began to clang in the deep recesses of her brain. She ignored it easily.“That’s fair.”
He held out a hand.“Shake on it.”
The bells were louder, but she took his hand in hers and shook.
“Okay.”He dropped her hand and picked up his chopsticks.“Their names are Thiago—he goes by T—and Ava.”
She blinked, then a slow smile crept across her face.“A woman?”
