“Working with Z, then I’ll be in my office. Come up and see me.”

“You sure about that?”

“Absolutely.”

“We’ll see.”

“So, what do you think about their wedding?” He drove over the bridge into DC.

“What do you mean?”

“Would you want a courthouse wedding?”

“I’m not sure I’m getting married, but if I did, Elsa would be there. Luciano too. Oh, and you’re invited.”

He chuffed out a laugh. “Damn right I’m there. I’m the one you’re marrying.”

“You think so?”

“I know so.”

“Marriage is a big commitment,” she said.

He clasped her hand, said nothing more. He wasn’t in a rush. When it came to Slash, he had nothing but time.

Z stepped close. “You should have taken the office down the hall.”

Carrera fought the urge to roll his eyes. “What’s his problem?”

“You level jumped, so the Inspector General has to review the complaint,” Z explained.

Carrera keyed into his office. “I’m ready to get to work.”

Sin smiled. “That’s the attitude. He doesn’t give a damn.”

“Idon’tgive a damn,” Carrera replied.

Sin eased into a guest chair. “I’ve got my team looking into it.”

“What for?” Carrera said as he logged in.

“Hirzog said he knows what Luciano is up to,” Sin said. “If you don’t step down, he’s threatening to whistleblow.”

Carrera chuckled. “Let him. They won’t find a damn thing.”

He shifted from Z to Sin, who arched a brow.
