Twenty minutes later, Slash stood in Carrera’s kitchen inhaling the mouth-watering aroma of culinary delights.

“Elsa, it smells so good, I need a drool cup,” Slash said as Carrera pulled up alongside her.

“That’s some sexy talk,” Carrera said.

She and Elsa laughed.

Slash lifted the lid. “Yes, your homemade red sauce.” She dipped the wooden spoon into the pot and sampled it. “Your best yet.”

“After my luncheon, I got busy,” Elsa said. “Today’s outing was the boost of energy I needed.”

Carrera removed his jacket, his tie, and rolled up his sleeves. She loved watching him undress and homed in on his every sexy move.

“What did you do today?” he asked his grandmother.

“I went out,” she replied.

“And?”

Slash peered into the oven. “There’ve gotta be thirty meatballs in there.” With her gaze cemented on Carrera, she said, “Elsa came with me to training this morning.”

Carrera laughed. “That’s funny.”

“Something happened to my friend Jilly today,” Slash continued. “She’s the woman who told me to leave the bad foster home. I invited her to stop by.”

“I can’t wait to meet her,” Elsa said.

“Carrera,” said the computer, “a four-door sedan parked out front. An unknown woman is walking up the driveway.”

“That’s Jilly,” Slash said as she headed toward the front door.

“You were joking about taking my grandmother to BLACK OPS, right?” Carrera asked.

The doorbell chimed.

“Not joking,” she replied. “That’s why she didn’t answer you. She promised me she’d never talk about it to anyone.”

“Good god, woman,” Carrera said, as Slash opened the front door.

“Hey, Jilly,” Slash said stepping aside.

Jilly glanced from Slash to Carrera, her brows furrowed. “Haven’t I seen you at Blue Suit?”

“He’s there to make sure I’m safe,” Slash said.

“You’re her bodyguard?”

“Yeah,” Carrera replied. “Bodyguard.”

“This is my friend Jilly Linder.” Slash wasn’t sure how to introduce him. At the club, he was Claude Amos.

“Good to meet you, Jilly,” Carrera said. “Come on in.”

“I shouldn’t intrude,” Jilly said.

“Elsa wants to meet you.” She tugged Jilly inside and brought her into the kitchen.

Elsa was putting garlic bread into the oven and pulling a large salad from the fridge. Elsa walked over to Jilly. “I’m delighted to meet you. I’m Elsa.”
