“No, he dumped me, then stopped talking to me. It doesn’t sound bad, but it was brutal.”

“Do you still love him?”

“There’s a fine line between love and hate,” Slash said.

Jilly laughed. “Amen to that.”

Jilly’s phone started ringing. She glanced at it. “Hmm, it’s Deb’s roommate. I’ll be quick.”

“Take your time.” Slash started clearing the dinner dishes.

“Hey, girl, what’s up?” Jilly listened. “Do you think you just missed her and she’s back at the club? I’ll swing by and see if she’s there. No worries. I’m sure she’s okay.”

Jilly hung up. “My friend Deb, from the club, didn’t come home last night.”

Slash’s stomach dropped. Deb was in the orgy room with the bearded man. “I saw her there last night.”

“I saw her too,” Jilly said.

“Is she seeing anyone?”

“No.”

“Has she ever gone home with a customer?”

“Not that I know of.” Jilly rose. “I’m sorry to bolt, especially since you’ve been so generous?—”

“Are you going to the club?” Slash asked.

“Yeah.”

“I’ll follow you there,” Slash said.

Twenty minutes later, they entered Blue Suit. Sunday night brought the least number of customers, but there were asses in the seats and dancers on all four stages. They made their way toward the back, entered the dressing room. Deb’s station was dark.

“I’m gonna check with Karen,” Jilly said.

“I’ll ask the bartenders.”

As Slash made her way toward the front of the club, she scanned for the bearded man. When she didn’t see him, she walked over to the bar. Bradley acknowledged her, finished serving a customer, and came over.

“Hey, how’s it going?” Bradley asked.

“I’m Slash, one of the new dancers.”

“Whatcha need?”

“I might be looking to pick up a few shifts,” she said. “Karen said you need fillers.”

“Have you bartended?”

“Yeah, but it’s been a while.”

He pulled out his phone. “I’m doing the July schedule. How often can you work?”

She didn’t need the money, she needed access to the employees without looking like she was pounding them with questions. If Karen got wind of that, she’d know Slash was up to something.

“Once or twice a week.” Slash gave him her phone number.
