“I’m sure dozens of other girls would be thrilled to have dinner with you.I am not one of them, however.”

He calls me out and owns me with a smirk and that lascivious mouth.

“I don’t want any other girl.I want you.”

The background noise soon recedes, and the only thing I can hear is the steady staccato of my heart.

I’m unable to look away.

Once again, I am Kit’s prisoner, held under his invisible spell.

“Whoisshe?”someone whispers, incredulous I would say no to someone who looks like Kit.

He’s been here five minutes and already has a fan club.

I am no one.

Well, I was until Kit Rivers waltzed into my world and shook it up beyond repair.

“Deal?”he asks when I stand mute.

“No deal.”I recover quickly, brushing the hair from my hot cheeks.

I serve the next woman in line who looks at me like I’ve lost my mind.

Little does she know…

“What’s the matter, Cupcake?You scared?”Kit mocks smugly.

Oh, fuck him…

“If she doesn’t want to go, take me instead,” says the blonde who is still lingering nearby.Hasn’t she got the hint already?“Pick me up at eight. We can skip dinner and just have dessert.”

Her comment drips with innuendo, as I doubt any food will be consumed.

I’m no longer in control of my actions as I dive for a ball in the bucket and hurl it at the target. The bell rings, and it feels as though a tsunami shakes the stall.

That tsunami is Kit dropping into the water tank.

He jerks his head upward, coughing and spitting out water. The sight is one I’ll cherish forever.

“I’m not scared…I’m just not interested,” I say, gloating as Kit brushes the wet hair from his eyes.

Speaking of eating…he looks as if he wants to eat me alive.

“But if you’re buying…there are hungry kids at the orphanage who would love late-night pancakes and cocoa.”

Father Justin pauses his conversation with the parish and smiles gently at me.

Kit’s arrogance wilts, and his eyes soften.“Who doesn’t love late-night pancakes?”

No surprise, the kids love Kit too.

It seems everyone is a fan.

The stall pulled in over five hundred dollars, which is incredible. It seems Kit’s charisma is good for something.

Kit nudges me with his shoulder, and asks, “What are you smiling at?”
