I knew that he wanted her and she wanted him. I hated them both and I was glad that AK had stolen her identity and ran her shit up. I drove until I reached the Chattahoochee River, I dumped my job issued laptop and I put my address in the GPS to get back to my apartment.

The night hadn’t gone anywhere near the way I planned it. I thought about the woman at Bacon bitch who had told me to let my feelings for Cozart go and I decided that she was right.

I sent the last text message to him I would ever send,

ME: TRIFLING PIECE OF SHIT I’M NOT PREGNANT THE NOTE IS FAKE. TELL YOUR SISTER I QUIT AND YOU ARE BLOCKED.

Three bubbles immediately popped up and blocked the contact before the message could come through. AK scamming had worked out for me because I had gotten myself out of the hot seat, and they could pin all of my shit on him. It was time to get the hell out of Atlanta; maybe I could go to Mississippi.

Atlanta had nothing left for me.

No money. No job. No man. No future.

Mississippi sounded like the plan. First, I needed to grab a few things from my condo. The storm hadn’t let up as I pulled in front of the building. I parked and left my purse inside onlygrabbing my keys. I didn’t plan to stay long; I could hire a moving company to bring the rest of the things that I wanted.

I unlocked the door and rushed inside to get away from the weather. I ran quickly up the stairs straight to my bedroom. Grabbing my duffle bags from the closet, I quickly began to throw shit inside of each bag. I had been starting over for half of my life this time was no exception. I grabbed what I needed and left the rest behind. Everything else could be bought again. AK may have taken my new contacts from me, but he didn’t have access to the old accounts I had already created. I smiled to myself in triumph; I was still ten steps ahead.

When I walked out of the door, the storm almost knocked me back inside. It had worsened, and the trees were whipping violently. I hated to have to drive in this, but I knew this would be the best cover to hide under. If I gave Cozart a day to tell Brick what had happened, my ass would be in a jail cell by the day after that. It was now or never.

I raced out into the rain, clutching a duffle bag in each hand. When I got inside of the car, I was soaking wet. I turned on the heater and defrost and pulled out of the parking lot.

I backed onto the street slowly and turned on my high beams as I drove through the terrible weather. When I made it to the interstate, I knew that I was home free. The weather still wasn’t any better, so I drove slowly, put a random Motel 6 in Mississippi in the GPS, and took my time going up the road.

The further away from Atlanta I got, the easier I began to breathe.

When I finally made it to Mississippi State Line, a police siren whirred behind me and I almost shit on myself.

“It’s probably just a state trooper, just flirt with him and get rid of him.” I said as I struggled to see out the back window through the rain.

I turned off the car, placed my hands on the steering wheel and waited patiently for the officer to appear. A few minutes later, a man appeared at the window and my heart fell through my asshole. I nervously farted, and I could tell from the wetness in my ass cheeks that I had shit on myself.

AK stood smiling at me, wearing a police uniform, with a badge around his neck.

“Headed somewhere?” he asked and I quickly grabbed for my keys to try to turn the ignition, but he was faster. He snatched the keys from the ignition and tossed them behind him.

“Step out of the car for me baby. You are under arrest,” he said smoothly with no African accent.

“So, you are a fucking cop, and you tricked me? I’m going to sue the hell out of you because you fucked me.” I smirked as I stepped out of the car and turned around to put my hands behind me back. I hoped that he was repulsed by the strong smell of shit and I couldn’t wait to get in his car and make the whole thing smell shitty.

He reached for his radio, and began speaking.

“Female suspect had an accident. I need a female officer to assist in the arrest.” I giggled and twerked my shitty ass until I turned to see who was getting out of the car wearing full FBI gear and walking in the rain towards me like Aquaman.

I blinked rapidly because my eyes had to be deceiving me. She looked like herself, but she looked more mature, more sophisticated, and less like a goofy blonde. We locked eyes, andshe smiled at me. The bitch I had spent a year training was a fucking cop.

“SHELLY, YOU CONNIVING TRAITOR BITCH!” I screamed as I struggled to get away from AK to get to Shelly. She laughed and shook her head.

“Calm down Trallis. You have a long ride back to Atlanta, and you have to sit in the shit you created, no pun intended.” She grabbed me from AK’s grasp and pushed me towards the car. Gone was her weak, soft demeanor, she was strong and self-assured, and no matter how much I backed away from her she held me firmly.

When she put me in the back seat of the car then shut the door I laid my head back and closed my eyes. I was fucked, and I knew it, but at least I had enjoyed the ride.

Chapter Eighteen

Ny’Airy Buckle

“I trusted you Cozart.” I shook my head and looked at him like he was shit on the bottom of my shoe as I walked through his condo grabbing all of my shit. The last few weeks had been the best ones of my life. After the Mayor’s ball, Cozart and I had gone to the Waffle House and gorged on the unhealthiest breakfast food, then we went back to my place, and he made love to me. Two weeks later his divorce was finalized.

After that night, I forgot Larry existed.
