“Nah, she ain’t going for that,” I admitted.
The conversation went from contracts to a place of its own. We talked about the arrangement, with me emphasizing the fact that it would be one night only. We discussed that she would need to get tested, provide me with her login details, and sign an NDA. She agreed. The meeting ended with the understanding that once we exchanged results, we would agree on a time to link up.
I stood to leave her office, “Appreciate you. When you do those contracts over, send me a copy,” I said as I pushed back from the chair.
“Tim, what about the partnership?” she asked, grabbing my hand.
“Is there another loan officer here?” I asked.
“No, why?”
“I’ll do the partnership because it’s good for business. I’d prefer you only deal with my sales team. But if you have to speakto my wife, I expect you to keep it professional.” I turned and walked toward the door without leaving any room for rebuttal.
I’m a businessman, and I did what makes sense. I couldn’t leave those kinds of numbers on the table, but I had been hoping to keep whoever I chose for the encounter and my wife separate.
I walked out of the office and glanced at my phone. I had a text from Breeze.
Wife: Baby, can you meet me at home? I just left the dealership because I think that Cass got me sick. I need a nap, some homemade soup, and a happy ending massage.
I looked down at the message, shook my head, and laughed out loud.
Me: Aight, baby, I’m coming.
I backed out of the parking space and got onto the highway, heading toward our home instead of Luxe. Even twenty years into our relationship and fourteen years into our marriage, it still sometimes felt like we were dating. I had my doubts about it, but Breeze was mine. I already knew that no matter what happened with these encounters, it wouldn’t change anything with our marriage.

Carrying the bags in my hand, I walked Breeze outside to the curb and kissed her. She stood wrapped in me like she didn’t want to let me go. My brows furrowed as I looked down at her. “You good, baby? You sure you want to leave?” I questioned. She laughed then exhaled.
“This just feels strange,” she admitted. “I’ve never spent a night with anyone else, but I’ll be okay. Go enjoy yourself.”
I nodded as I watched her skeptically. She pecked my lips a couple of times, then she turned and got in her car and backed out of the driveway. Although I feel, to a certain degree, that we were both interested in having other experiences, if she turned around right now and said she wasn’t comfortable anymore, I would be cool with it.
I watched as she slowly pulled from the house and disappeared from my vision. The twenty-four hours had officially started, and our rules were now enforced. We had both disabled our locations, and we wouldn’t see or speak to each other until five p.m. tomorrow.
I got into the truck and tried to clear my mind as I went through the messages between Mercedes and me. So far, she’s stood by what she said. Since we exchanged numbers, she never reached out to me, only responding when there was information to share. That shit was important for me. The first sign that she thought she could play with my wife or make it more than it was supposed to be, I was going to pull the plug.
I clicked Cedes’ address, and the route popped up on the GPS. It was crazy that all this time, she had been less than twenty minutes away from our house. I drove there, and the closer I got, the more I started rethinking it.
I texted her and let her know that I was pulling up soon, so she could be ready when I made it there. Most niggas would think I was being a bitch. But it’s a different type of pressure when you’ve only been with one person for years. I knew my way aroundonebody. Being with someone else had me in my head. But there was no turning back.
Turning down an unpaved road, I drove until I reached a community that I wasn’t familiar with. It was a nice, quiet area with trimmed hedges, and no one outside. Once the GPS sounded an alert, alerting me that I had reached my destination, I sent her another message.
She walked outside a minute later and opened the back door to throw the bag that she had been carrying into the seat. Then she came to the front.
“Hey,” she spoke as she slid into the leather seats.
“What’s up?” I asked as I scanned her body. She wore a long green dress made of a see-through material. The more I looked, the more I could see her nipples hardening through it. She smelled good; the fragrance that she was wearing was something sweet. I could tell it was vanilla something.
We didn’t speak much before I changed the GPS to our destination. Her attention was on her phone. She sat in silence, scrolling with one leg on the floor and the other planted in my seat.
I drove for about twenty-five minutes. We had a long way to go before we reached the place where we would spend the night. But after a long stretch of silence, she finally spoke up.
“Why are you so nervous?” she asked as she reached over and rubbed my leg. I glanced at her.
“I’m cool,” I lied. I was definitely in my head.
