“They are being handled.”

“No.” I step farther into the room. “It was not.”

She looks at me for a long moment, anger gathering behind her eyes. I expect her to ask what else I have withheld. I expect the fight.

Instead, she reaches for her phone on the bedside table.

“What are you doing?” I ask.

“Calling Raven.”

“Maya.”

“She needs time to move her people. You said tomorrow night. That means she needs the location, the buyer, every name Omar has pulled, and whatever evidence you are sitting on because you think I cannot be trusted with it.”

Her thumb hovers over Raven’s name.

“You aren’t going to stop me,” she says.

“No.”

The answer catches her off guard.

Good.

She presses call and sets the phone on the bed between us, speaker on.

Raven answers on the second ring. “Reeves.”

“Leon moved the Boston meeting,” Maya says. Her voice has changed already. Cleaner. Controlled. Agent Reeves stepping back into place.

“Tomorrow night. Stefano’s people have eyes on the estate and a contact confirming the location. We need the team in place before he walks into that club.”

“Savarese,” Raven says. “I know you’re listening.”

Maya looks at me.

“Raven.”

“Where is Leon?”

“Omar will send the address and the contact details. You will have the account information you need to secure your warrants, along with the names tied to his buyer.”

“You have that already?”

“Yes.”

“You have been holding evidence.”

“I have been verifying it.”

Her silence tells me exactly what she thinks of that answer.

“Listen carefully,” Raven says. “Leon comes in alive. This is not your personal cleanup operation. If you interfere with my team?—”

“You will arrest me.”

“I will try.”
