“Fuck no, because this is one addiction I never want to give up.”

Keith Urban’s “Wasted Time” came on the radio next. “Ah, I haven’t heard this song in forever. I love it.”

Boden reached for the portable speaker on the side table and cranked up the volume.

“Boden, your neighbors.”

“What are they going to do? Call the cops?” He smirked mischievously. “Come on, beautiful, time to live a little.”

With one hand on my hip, he parted my legs with his knee and dipped me backward, earning himself a squeal of excitement to bubble up from within just as the feel of his muscular thigh pressed up deliciously against my core, awakening my nerve endings. It was a feeling I wanted to chase as a sinful shudder pulsed through my limbs before Boden brought me back upright and twirled me around.

I was breathless with abandon. The rhythm and beat of the song fed happiness into my soul and set the tone and fluidity of our movements as we turned his outdoor living space into a private dance floor.

With every step taken, our bodies brushed in sweet harmony. Each stroke heightened our connection, expressed our desires, and teased our wants. It was intimate. It was fun and carefree. We danced like no one was watching, cocooned in our own world cloaked in privacy, and everything about it was pure heaven.

Boden pressed his front to my back and wrapped his arms around my waist. My tube top style maxi dress gave his lips free rein access to kiss a path along my bare skin from my shoulder to my neck and up until his teeth nipped at my earlobe. I rolled my head to the side and bit my lip as our hips continued swaying to the song’s beat while his desire for me made me weak in the knees.

I twisted in his grip and pushed up on my tiptoes with my mouth eagerly seeking his. Boden picked me up just as my fingers intertwined in his hair. His tongue stroked against mine with passionate purpose in a slow and unhurried motion. Boden kissed me like I was a treasure he’d found and wanted to worship. What this man did to me made me putty in his firm and capable hands. I had no idea a man like him existed, nor the feelings he elicited, and I wanted to immerse myself in it, drink it in, savor, and cherish it.

Sheba suddenly stopped sunbathing in the grass and barked feverishly as she ran toward the house with exuberance but didn’t stop once she reached us. She stopped short of the door and waved her tail excitedly, seemingly eager to get inside.

“She must be hot,” Boden guessed.

“I’ll go and refresh her water, plus I’m sure your timer is almost up.”

“You’re not trying to get out of dancing with me, are you?”

“Who me?” I pointed to myself in jest. “No, never.” I smiled before walking over to Sheba. “It’s a hot one out here, isn’t it and yet, you’re willingly sunbathing out there in a fur coat.”

I strolled into the kitchen, grabbed the bowl off the floor, and poured the old water into the sink, all before I noticed my little buddy wasn’t nipping at my ankles. I turned around only to jump and drop the bowl in surprise when I found two sets of eyes, not including the dogs, watching me from the couch in the living room.

The loud clattering sound of the Yeti stainless steel bowl bouncing across the kitchen floor caught Boden’s attention from outside as he turned sharply to look through the patio’s sliding door.

“We didn’t mean to startle you.” Brooke’s apologetic eyes slid from mine to her brother’s as he rushed inside. “You both were,” she cleared her throat, “a little preoccupied when we arrived, so we thought we’d just make ourselves comfortable in here till you were done.”

“Did you enjoy the show?” Boden retorted while making a beeline in my direction.

“While I’ll admit you’ve got some smooth dance moves there, I still could have done without the visuals.”

“You okay?” Boden asked discreetly, curling a hand around mine.

I nodded as if to say,“all good,”and smiled at his attentiveness.

“Good to see you, brother.” Boden directed toward the man standing beside his sister. “Brooke, since when are you ever early?”

“Right! Traffic was on our side today.” She shrugged.

“Sure it was. Don’t think I don’t know Luke’s got a lead foot.”

“Hey, that shade of pink lip color looks good on you, my man,” Luke taunted Boden, causing my cheeks to redden.

“Thanks, so kind of you to notice the finer details.”

“You know I’ve got your back.”

“That you do. Anyway, let me formally introduce you two. This is my girl, Lakelyn. Lakelyn, this is my brother-in-law, Luke.”

His girl.
