His gut clenched, and his eyes flew open. “Why?”

“Why?” She shook her head. Leaving the question unanswered, she leaned in, brushed her lips over his jaw, then licked there, flattening her tongue, the wet heat making him shudder. “I’ve been wanting to do this.” She licked again. Nuzzled under his chin. Parted her lips and sucked gently. “And it’s even better than I thought it would be. Everything about you is better than I thought it would be. Which is probably why I can’t resist you.”

“Why would you want to resist me?”

She studied his features, the intensity in her stare making his heart pump harder. “We lead different lives, Nick. This … thing we’ve been doing. Pretending I could just jump in and be a pilot.”

I wasn’t pretending.

“It was a great distraction and helped get me out of my head and put me in a much better place. And this trip. I’ve always wanted to see New York as just a tourist. I’ll never forget it. For that, I thank you.” She ran her hands over his chest, her fingertips tracing every muscle. “But reality is about to rear its ugly head.” Her hands were at his waist now, gliding over his bare skin, and the way she was going, it wouldn’t be long before she reached his—

He forced himself to process her words. The way she’d taken to flying and how much she enjoyed it, he’d assumed she wouldn’t want to give it up once she got into it. Had she made up her mind not to pursue it?

“What have you decided—”

“Shh. I don’t want to talk about that right now.”

“But why—”

His question ended on a sharp inhale as he felt her hand on his fly, flicking open the button, unzipping before he could draw another breath.

She pushed two fingers into the opening of his boxers, stroking. “God, your length,” she said softly, running her fingertips from head to base, then wrapping her hand around him. “You get so hard for me, don’t you?”

“Yeah,” was all he could grind out.

Her lips curved into a wicked smile, and he envisioned sliding between them, into that beautiful mouth that always made his thoughts go rogue.

Her eyes lingered on what she was doing to him with her fingertips, but then her free hand brushed over his jaw, thumb passing over his mouth. “No man should be allowed to look like that,” she declared.

He licked his lips. “Like what?”

“Like someone decided to elevate ‘tall, dark, and handsome.’” She lowered her head, and he looked up at her, marveling at how intensely she studied his face. Suddenly, she gripped his chin and seized his lips, thrusting her tongue into his mouth.

The woman meant to drive him insane.

He reached to pull her onto his lap and groaned into her mouth as she settled on his rigid shaft, her legs spread wide, grinding against him.

“Bed,” she murmured against his lips. “Now.”

He rose to his feet, taking her with him. Backing into the bed, he let himself fall onto the mattress, with her on top of him. He caressed her backside, squeezing, and tugged on one belt loop of her jeans. “These need to come off,” he said.

She smirked. “What for?”

“For a first-class seat on my face.”

Jannie’s eyes flared with heat. After another interminable stare deep into his soul, she pushed to her knees and hooked her fingers into both waistbands of his pants and boxers, yanking them off and tossing them across the room. His socks followed.

“There. Now you’re in my favorite outfit.”

He had to smile. “My birthday suit?”

“Uh-huh. I like to look at it.”

Jannie surveyed his body intently, head to toe, her hungry gaze zeroing in on him as he got hard as an iron rod.

And then she began doing unbelievable things to him with her hands, things that felt, incredibly, almost as good as if her mouth were on him. Fervently, he wished she’d do that, but she didn’t. Just kept stroking, twisting, and using her thumb across his tip with every pass.

She stopped for a beat. “Spread your legs.”
