DREW

I flipon the light switch and gesture for her to enter my home.

I step inside behind her.

The house is quiet, like it's waiting for something.

I close the door behind us, the lock clicking louder than it should.

Neither of us moves.

She’s close enough that I feel her without touching her.

“You’re quiet,” she says.

“So are you.”

“I don’t need to talk.”

That tracks.

I drag a hand through my hair, trying to ground myself.

“Do you want something to drink?” I ask.

“No.”

“Food?”

“No.”

I let out a breath. “Okay.”

Silence again.

But it’s... full.

Heavy.

Charged.

She steps closer.

That’s all it takes for my body to become an inferno.

Another step.

Now she’s right in front of me.

I step closer, closing the distance she keeps controlling.

Her gaze drops to my mouth, then lifts again.

My hand lifts, fingers brushing her jaw.

Her breath hitches.
