I nod mutely, still in shock and awe over what just happened in here.

He grabs my jeans and carefully pulls them over my feet. Once he gets them to my knees, he puts my sneakers back on, then sets me on my feet and pulls my pants over my hips.

I make a face as he buttons them. “Feels weird without panties.”

He grins. “You can put a pair on when we get home. But you’re not getting these ones.” His eyes gleam mischievously. “Not yet.”

“Panty thief.” I grin before turning to the mirror and running a hand through my hair, trying to make myself presentable.

When I’m finished, he takes my hand, wrapping his fingers around mine. “Ready?”

I nod, wondering how the hell we’re going to get out of here without everyone knowing what happened in here. “Ready.”

He unlocks the door and opens it, guiding me forward. My eyes lock with Tony, who stands across the hallway, his mouth falling open.

When Daltyn slips out behind me, his eyes widen.

I’m blushing so hard, my face is on fire.

“Sorry about that.” Daltyn pats Tony’s shoulder, his tone indicating the lack of sincerity in his words. “Bathroom’s yours now.”

Then he nudges me forward. “Let’s go home, baby.”

I duck my head, trying to hide the smile over the way he just claimed me.

When we step from the hallway into the main area of the coffee shop, everyone stops talking, staring at us.

Daltyn ignores them, walking beside me until he gets to the door, where he holds it open, letting me pass.

"Social media's going to be buzzing for sure," I say as we head toward his truck.

“It’s what we do best, Pey.” He grins at me. “We make the whole town talk.”

DALTYN

The second we step inside the cabin, silence settles around us.

Not awkward silence. Heavy silence.

The kind packed full of things neither of us knows how to say out loud yet.

I lock the door behind us while Peyton kicks off her shoes carefully near the entryway. My eyes drop to her ankle. Still no swelling. Good. The sight loosens something ugly in my chest.

She catches me looking. “It’s fine,” she says softly.

I nod once, but I crouch anyway, my fingers brushing lightly over her ankle before I can stop myself. Soft, delicate, and warm skin beneath my calloused fingers.

Mine.

The thought hits hard enough to make my jaw tighten.

I know it’s dangerous. This is only temporary.

But I can’t stop.

Peyton’s breath catches quietly above me.
