I clear my throat. “You look amazing. Yes, I’m ready.”
I hold my arm out for her. She comes to me and wraps her arm around mine. I lean in to kiss her lips.
“I have a feeling this is going to be a great night,” she says with a smile.
“Me too, baby. Me too.”
CHAPTER 9
Our Night Out
LaSalle
Tasha has hadmy mouth watering all night. That purple satin dress looks amazing against her brown skin. I’m loving the deep waves she has her hair in.
They’re flowing down past her shoulders and the front scoops to the right side of her face. It’s perfect for her breathtaking features. My wife still has me under her spell.
“Sammy returned an hour ago. I went to pick him up when he called. He’s in his room,” Maldonado says as I enter the house after Tasha, my eyes still glued to her ass.
“Thanks. You heading out for the night?”
“Yeah, no telling if the kid will call first thing,” he says.
I snort. Maldonado has been Sammy’s driver for the last five years. My son rises with the roosters. He’s up before me some days.
I’ve been trying to break him out of showing up at Uri and Micheal’s door without calling them first. He has begun to arriveat their homes and lets himself in. Waiting in their offices or training rooms for them to discover he’s there.
I blame Micheal. He’s the one who taught Sammy how to break in unnoticed. I know he regrets it now.
I give Maldonado a nod and a pat on the back as he goes to leave. He came over from Italy, a gift from Uncle Alfanzo for Sammy. My son is known for his independence, and no one wants to take that from him.
I smile as I think of my son. He loves the comfort of his own home when it’s time to rest his head at night. We won’t see him for the rest of the evening; once he’s in his room for bedtime, he tends to remain there.
“So much for talking our boy into spending the night with his uncle Bobby.” I chuckle.
“Ugh, I had a feeling he was going to change his mind. I should have made him a sweeter offer,” she laughs and falls into thought.
“What are you thinking about?” I say as I brush her hair from her shoulder and place a kiss on her skin after I walk up behind her.
“It’s so quiet. It’s not the same when they’re not here.”
I wrap my arms around her waist and give a little squeeze. When I begin to sway with her in my arms, it’s to music playing in my head. Al Green comes to mind.
“Now I hear the gears turning in your head. What are you thinking?”
“I’m just remembering how broken I had been and how you pulled me out of the dark. You truly mended a broken man. I will forever cherish the love you’ve given me,” I reply.
Reaching into my pocket, I then pull my phone and begin to play the song playing in my head. Al Green begins to croon through our home speakers. I put the phone away and wrap my wife in my embrace.
Her eyes sparkle as she looks up into mine. I dip my head and take her lips. She smooths her hands up my back beneath my suit jacket as I devour her lips. A groan rises in my throat.
“I remember loving that man so much and wanting to take all his pain away. I’d be there for him all over again if he needed me to be.”
Searching her eyes, the truth of her words shines through. She’s proven over and over how far she’s willing to go for me. I don’t think I’ve ever been loved the way Tasha loves me.
She’s gone to war for me in every sense of the word. My heart fills with so much love for her. Cupping the side of her face, I dip in to take her lips in a searing kiss.
“I love you,” I say into her mouth.
