“Keep your hands by your sides, honey,” I encourage, testing her.

She obeys, moaning softly and squeezing her legs together.

Yes.She likes my dominance in the bedroom.Shecravesit.Milking her has nothing to do with needing to store up a supply. It’s a kinky thing we do because we both enjoy the way it makes us feel.

“Adding a few minutes to the suction after your breasts are drained will cause your body to make more milk, honey.”

We don’t need more milk. She knows that. But she nods, biting her bottom lip.

After tucking her into the nursing bra, I lean over and rub my nose against hers.I’m going to challenge her further.“Who takes care of your breasts, sunshine?”

“You do.”

“That’s right. When you’re fully healed, I’ll start taking care of your pussy, too.”

She whimpers again, squirming.“Six weeks is a long time.”

I smile.“It will fly by.”I lean back.“I’d better go check on your sister. She might decide to run off with our daughter.I think she’s smitten.”

Hannah giggles.“She is such a perfect baby.”She grabs my hand.“Thank you for…everything.”

I bend over and kiss her again.“No thanks needed.I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

Six weeks later…

“Best day ever,” I whisper as I spin around in the middle of the living room, fluffing my hair out with both hands.

Aaric smiles at me indulgently as he sets Eve’s car seat next to the couch. She’s sound asleep, so we’ll leave her snuggled in tight for now.

My amazing husband comes to me, wraps his arms around me, and kisses all over my face.“I love your haircut, honey, but I love the way it makes you light up even more.”

Today was our first trip out of the house. We went to town, where Aaric had made an appointment for me with a beautician.I didn’t cut it all the way off or anything drastic, but I did have the hairdresser cut and style it halfway up my back.It feels so light. It doesn’t just take off physical weight but the emotional baggage that went with it.

No one will ever tell me how to wear my hair again.It’smyhair.I can shave it bald if I want to.

We also had lunch in town at the diner. It wasn’t elegant, but it was the first time I’ve eaten in a restaurant since I was a child. My mother took me to that same diner for my fifth birthday. It was just the two of us.I’m pretty sure she saved up for it and didn’t tell my father. It was our secret.I don’t know where Rebekah was.Probably out checking traps with Dad or fishing or something. She was always more into the outdoors than I was, and in those days, Dad wasn’t nearly as angry and mean as he became.

Aaric stops being silly and stares at me with a grin on his face.“You look radiant.”

“I feel so good. It’s amazing what nearly two months of rest can do for a person. You’ve made my life special in so many ways.I’ve never eaten so well, or slept in such a comfortable bed, or had access to hot water for as many baths as I wanted, or clean clothes… The list is long.I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me and Eve.”

“Did you forget that you’re my wife?”he jokes.“It’s my job.”

I shake my head.“Don’t even try to act like most husbands take care of their wives the way you and Adam do.Asher, too.I haven’t spent very much time with Emma, but I can tell he treats her like spun gold, even though he does grumble and scowl at everyone else.”

Aaric tips his head back and laughs.“Excellent observation.”

I shrug.“He still loves her and worships the ground she walks on.”

“He does. And I love you, sunshine.”He wraps his arms tightly around me and starts swaying as if there’s music playing.

Grinning, I tip my head back and meet my husband’s gaze.
