Her dark fingers drifted slowly down the lengthof her body, tracing the curves of her skin until they slipped between her thighs. She touched herself deliberately, her gaze never leaving him as he stood there watching.
‘You’re killing me,’ he whispered, his voice rough with restraint.
‘Then do something about it, commander.’
Kai did not need telling twice. He tore his clothes away with impatient hands before climbing onto the bed and over her.
‘Don’t you dare stop,’ he said the moment she paused.
‘If I don’t stop, I’m going to come,’ she breathed, her body arching beneath him, twisting with the rising pleasure.
Kai lowered himself over her, his lips brushing the shell of her ear before his teeth grazed it softly. From there he moved along the line of her jaw, slow and deliberate, before his mouth found her nipples, teasing them until her breath grew ragged beneath him. When at last he positioned himself to enter her, his voice dropped to a hushed murmur.
‘Come for me, Dawn,’ he whispered.
The moment her cry broke free, Kai pushed into her slowly and firmly, filling her as her body trembled with the force of her orgasm. Her purple eyes flew wide as he began to move, thrusting into her with a steady, powerful rhythm, riding the waves of her pleasure and stretching them longer and longer.
‘Don’t stop,’ she gasped as his movements grew harder, more urgent. His hand slid beneath her back, lifting her higher so their bodies pressed flush together, skin to skin, as though they might fuse into a single being.
The sounds spilling from her lips drove him further—low, breathless moans that unravelled the last of his restraint. Kai thrust into her with mounting intensity, chasing the rhythm of her body until he felt her shatter again beneath him. Within moments, he followed, pleasure crashing through him just asfiercely.
For a while he remained there with her, their breathing uneven, the world reduced to the quiet closeness between them.
‘You’re beautiful,’ he said, pressing kisses along her neck and jaw.
And for the first time, when he looked into those purple eyes, Kai saw something shift within them.
For the firsttime, she was beginning to believe him.
I’ve always found it so curious how the Blackburn line always has three heirs, each with a very specific role. But most curious of it all, is that two of them always have names that start with the same letter. I wonder why that is.
Tabitha Wysteria
King Ozul’s wyverian army had begun its long march several days earlier, advancing steadily towards the Kingdom of Fauna. They had chosen the route through the wastelands, for travelling north through wolverian territory would have taken far longer. The witchlands posed their own dangers, of course, but King Ozul seemed entirely confident that his army could withstand whatever might lurk there.
Rio Hawthorne was not nearly so certain.
Still, she had no intention of arguing over such matters with the wyverian king. He was returning to her homeland with an immense army at his back to aid her people. For that alone, she decided it was wiser to keep her thoughts to herself.
‘Why do you have a little ghost following you around, Rowan?’ Rio asked suddenly. She felt the moment Rowan faltered beside her. The air shifted faintly as he glanced over hisshoulder at something she could not see.
‘His name is Edur. He’s lost.’ She could practically picture Rowan narrowing his eyes at her. ‘How did you know?’
‘Elowen.’
Rowan huffed. ‘Of course she would tell on me.’
‘You can’t keep him.’
‘He’s not a dog.’
Rio snorted despite herself. ‘You sure about that?’ She reached over and pinched his arm playfully.
Before Rowan could respond, Rio felt a subtle change ripple through the air around them. Her brow furrowed as she glanced ahead at the slowing line of soldiers.
‘Why are we stopping?’ she asked.
‘I’ll go find out,’ Rowan said, already moving ahead.
