“We’re here.” He pulls open a staff-only supply door near the elevators.

As he ushers me into the small supply closet, restless energy buzzes under my skin.

This is actually happening. I’m about to do…something with the man I’ve been obsessed with for years.

Each step I take has my pulse skittering, my thoughts spiraling.

Hell, I’m not even walking.

I’m floating.

Once we’re inside, he closes the door with a softclick.

And then it’s just the two of us.

His presence closes in on me, filling the already tight space, backing me up against the wall.

“Are you sure about this?” I whisper, meaning the unlocked door.

“Sure about what?” He slams a hand next to my head one moment, and the next, his lips brush my ear. “About you?”

“Well, I…” When his mouth drifts to the corner of mine, my brain short-circuits. Words I shouldn’t be saying this soon come tumbling out of me before I can stop them. “Yes, about me.”

“It’s too fast, but…” He flips on the light before gripping my jaw. His face levels with mine, his entire posture radiating power and lust. “I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life.”

Shock clogs my throat. I stand there, flustered and painfully needy as Alaric rips his backpack and hoodie off.

His shirt lifts a little as he does, revealing taut muscles and a light trail of hair leading to the waistband of his boxers, and lower, to the cock straining against his scrubs.

My cheeks are on fire, my stomach fluttering as I realize he looks bigger than he felt against my back. The tempting outline of the head through the thin material sends a shudder through me.

I wish I knew what to do. How to take what I want without being awkward about it.

Soon.

“Lilith.”

My eyes shoot up to find him smirking. It’s a sinful curve of his lips that leaves me breathless.

A second later, the smirk is gone.

“You have no idea…” His hand wraps around my throat, his fingers holding me in place without hurting me. He uses his thumb to apply just enough pressure beneath my chin to tip my head up. To make sure my eyes are locked on his all-consuming ones. “The things you do to me…”

Before I get to askwhat?, he leans in, almost giving me my first kiss. I hold my breath, my hands flexing at my sides, a whimper slipping past my lips.

He curses in that husky voice of his, pressing his forehead to mine.

“Are you okay?” I ask.

Please, don’t let him regret this.

He doesn’t give me an answer, simply pulls away, sets his pager on top of his hoodie, then rises to his full height.

Alaric hovers over me. Any sign of his inner turmoil has been wiped from his face. In its place is a man who emanates power, confidence, and so much desire that my breath catches.

“Push your jeans down your thighs.”

It’s an order.
