“Not with your period.”

Oh yeah. Good call.

“I’ll just do this.” He slid her panties into the crack of her bottom so they sat there like a G-string.

Jeez. Could this get any more embarrassing?

The next smack that landed wasn’t anywhere near as hard as the first one had been. Huh, was that all he was going to give her? Several more smacks landed. They felt nothing more than a light touch. She deserved far harder.

Addie started to wonder if he was playing around with her, but then she remembered how he’d said it wasn’t just the pain, but the embarrassment of being spanked that could work as a punishment.

She guessed that was partially true, although she still felt guilty for causing him pain.

The spanking continued. He moved down one cheek and then up the other before smacking them both with light taps.

Her bottom actually was starting to get warmer. She could feel the heat of it, and, to be honest, as more spanks landed, her skin did start to get sensitive, the heat building.

Okay, that was surprising. She hadn’t expected her bottom to get so heated. Could a lot of light tapping actually give her a sore bottom?

Maybe this punishment was going to be far more effective than she’d realized.

His hand sped up slightly, maybe in tempo with the change in music. And the faster smacks really started to hurt. Her breathing grew quicker as well. Her hands clenched into fists.

This was it.

This was what she needed.

Finally, he stopped and paused. The room seemed to be frozen before she turned her head to look at him. He was staring down at her bottom. And she couldn’t work out that look on his face.

What was he thinking?

And why wasn’t he touching her? She really needed him to touch her right now.

She was starting to shake from the after effects. What was going on?

“Cash,” she whispered. “Cash, are you okay?” She moved so she was facing him, kneeling.

He shook his head. Maybe he wasn’t okay.

Had something happened? Had something gone wrong?

She wrapped her arms around herself as the shaking continued. “What is it? What did I do wrong?”

Addie ignored the strain in her throat. She didn’t care about that right now. All she wanted to know was if he was okay.

Suddenly, he blinked and seemed to come back into himself. “What? Addie? What’s wrong? Oh, shit. Come here, baby,” he said as he grabbed her hand. “Did I hurt you? Was it too much?”

“No, no, it wasn’t too much, but you zoned out, and I wasn’t sure what I did wrong.”

“Shit, baby, you did nothing wrong. I just . . . I got worried that I’d gone too far. I spanked you longer than I meant to, and maybe a bit harder than I meant to from the sight of your bottom. Guilt had a hold of me. I don’t like to make mistakes anymore and I especially don’t want to make one with you. Are you all right? Are you upset with me? You can tell me what feelings you’re having.”

It seemed almost strange that a guy who looked like him, with his tattoos and his sharp, gorgeous looks, would be questioning her on her feelings.

But that was the thing about Cash. He had several sides to him. He wasn’t just the way he looked. He also cared.

“I’m fine,” she said. “I deserved that.”

“You deserved a punishment for talking, which I’ve noticed you’re still doing.” He gave her a stern look. “But I didn’t want to take it too far, and I feel like I might have.”
