I gather her into my arms and kiss the top of her head. “Go home to the garage. I’m going after him.” Knowing what Dagger’s like, he wouldn’t let that opportunity slide—

“You motherFUCKER!” The door to Lavish swings open so hard it leaves a hole in the wall behind it. Mason comes toward me with a fucking Glock pointed at my skull, and Dagger’s plan becomes as clear as day.

Shoving Mia behind me, I grip my own gun at my hip.

Here we fucking go.

Mia

“Mason!” I yell as Aiden pushes me behind him, but I shove him hard to get around his hold.

“You can’t come in here all fucking hotheaded and shoot me with no reason to tell your prez,” Aiden says, remindingMason of his responsibility to his club, and it’s smart. It might stop him from doing something rash.

“He’ll understand,” Mason snaps as Aiden pulls his gun from his holster so fast I don’t even register the movement.

“Mase!” I scream again, trying to lock onto Mason’s wild eyes as he aims at Aiden.

“And you!” Mason turns to me. “You sat with me all through breakfast and didn’t fucking say anything? That goddamn goon, Dagger, had to pull me aside at my bike and tell me you’re fucking AidenmotherfuckingFoxx? What the actual fuck, Mia!” he roars.

“You don’t talk to her. You talk to me. I don’t think my girl will be too happy with me if I take your head clean off.” Aiden’s voice is smooth and dark as he nods toward me. “So don’t fucking make me do it.” Aiden cocks his gun, andthat is it. These fucking apes.

I duck under Aiden’s arm to stand between them. “Enough!” I yell. “Both of you put your fucking guns down!”

Aiden lowers his immediately, because I’m now standing in front of it. Mason follows suit, looking around to make sure no one else is coming at him.

“Mase,” I say soothingly and move toward him. His eyes are crazed and he’s panting. He clearly wants to kill Aiden.

I don’t hesitate. I clench my fist and hit him in the chest in a ploy to force his eyes to me.

He grunts, but it works. His eyes meet mine. “What thefuck, Mia? The president of the fucking Disciples? Have you lost your goddamn mind? Do you want to end up like Nic? It’s his fucking club that killed her!”

I reach up and smack him across the face. Hard. If for nothing more than to snap him out of his blind rage.

“What? It’s okay for you to be in Dad’s world, but not me? That’s a fucking double standard, wouldn’t you say? Just because he’s not a member ofyourclub?” I point to Aiden. “You don’t even know him, Mason.”

“And she doesn’t answer to you,” Aiden adds, flicking the safety on his gun again.

I turn to face him. “You’re not fucking helping.”

Aiden smirks.

I turn back to Mason and square my shoulders. “I’m a grown fucking woman, and I choosehim. If you’re going to shoot him, you’re going to have to go through me.”

Chapter 52

Aiden

I’ll admit that watching Mia take control is fucking incredible. She stands between me and her brother, eyes blazing. Ready to fight him, fight me—whoever needs a beating. Not a hint of fear in her eyes.

But there’s no reason for her to fight. I’m confident that once Mason calms the fuck down, we’ll be able to have a reasonable conversation. He just needs to get over the initial shock that I’m fucking his sister. Not that it’s any of his business, but I can imagine that if I had a sister, I’d feel the same.

Mason growls, “And what? You’re working here? Dad would fucking roll over in his—”

“Don’t you fucking bring Dad into this. This place has paid my tuition in less than two months. In case you’ve forgotten, Mom and Dad didn’t exactly have a college fund for me.”

“So, you’re taking your clothes off for money? Real fucking classy, Mia.”
