She nodded, “I did. I got your tux, too. I’m surprised you let me dress you.”

I shrugged, standing up. “Baby, you always got that shit on, so I know you’re going to get me right. I trust you.”

“Were you a Make-A-Wish kid?” She asked

“Mhmm,” I nodded, casting my line into the water.

“What was your wish? Did you choose Disney like most kids?”

“Nahhh, I chose a suite for a Jag’s game. I got to meet the entire team. Coach Charles was the quarterback at this time. They treated me like a king. I sat on the sidelines watching the game, the cheerleaders kept blowing me kisses and shit. Had me feeling like that nigga.” I laughed. “Now I own that suite and play for that team. Coach kept in touch with my family the entire time til I was grown and drafted. He’s a good dude.”

“Aww. Coach has a good spirit.”

“Yeah he does. That’s why the Jags were my top pick. Not because I’m from OC, but because the team has always treated me like family. Especially when my Pops disappeared.”

We stayed at the lake for at least three hours. I caught a good number of catfish and was ready to fry this shit up.

“This is disgusting!” Blessing gagged, stepping away from me. She was supposed to be helping me clean this catfish, but according to her, she isn’t cut out for this lifestyle.

“It’s not even that bad, bae. You’re so dramatic. You can just get started on the sides.” I shook my head, continuing to clean and fillet the fish.

Blessing burst into laughter, causing me to turn and look at her. “What’s funny?” I questioned.

“Symone sent this funny ass video to the group chat.” She responded, still giggling.

I froze at the mention of Symone. “I thought y’all weren’t friends with her anymore?”

“Oh, we made up not too long ago. She apologized for being a weirdo.”

I sucked my teeth, turning back to the sink. “I don’t like her. She’s messy as hell, Bless.”

“She’s honestly not that bad. She’s been cool since we made up.”

“Just don’t be telling her our business.”

“I don’t tell her personal shit like that. Where’s all this coming from?”

“Nowhere. I just get bad vibes from her.” I know I should’ve told her the truth, but I couldn’t risk losing her after we’d just made things official.

“Alright, Saint. Don’t let me find out anything different.”

“It’s nothing, Bless. I’m protective of you. She didn’t even have your back when all that shit went down.”

“I understand what you’re saying, babe. She’s harmless, though. She just wanted to keep the peace. I don’t want to talk about this anymore. I know Coach is strict with away games. But I think I can convince him to at least let me come to one.”

“You can come to whichever one you want. Coach will let you slide at least once.” I chuckled. “You gone bring our girls with you?”

“Yeah. I miss them already. This is probably the longest I’ve gone without Sage.”

“I told you they could’ve come.”

“We needed this alone time. So much has gone on these past few weeks. I’m just glad everything is finally over.”

“You and me both, baby.”

Blessing thought it would be a good idea to record a cooking video together and upload it to our social media pages. I agreed. It was the perfect way to announce our relationship. After eating an early dinner, we retreated outside to the jacuzzi.

“This feels amazingggg.” Blessing sang as she sank into the water. A soft sigh escaped her mouth as she relaxed against the wall.
