Lunch had been fun. I hadn’t had to fake it. Dustin was attentive and fully immersed in being with his family. His mom talked to me like an old friend, his sister accused me of looking too much like a vampire’s love interest, to which Dustin high-fived her and said “thank you,” and I had an interesting discussion with his dad on current affairs and politics.

It was easy.

It was so easy, I had a moment of doubt and wondered if he’d told them in advance just to mess with my head.

His mom was making coffee, his dad had gone outside to smoke, and Naya had gone upstairs to text her friend about me. I turned to Dustin.

“So?” He pulled a strand of my hair through his fingers. “What do you think?”

“They’re pretty awesome.”

“Like me?” he teased, his dark eyes gleaming.

“No. Nothing like you at all,” I said with a smile. “Are you adopted?”

“Witch.” He kissed me.

I fell into his body easily. His mouth moving over mine with increasing intensity. God, I wanted him. I pressed into him further, my hand at the nape of his neck, pulling him down.

“You could show Hadley your old room, Dustin.”

I sprang away from him and met his dad’s grin with a guilty look. “Sorry.”

“Show her your trophies or... maybe the rest of the house.” He left us, and I knew I was going to die of embarrassment.

“You want to come polish my trophy in my room?” Dustin asked, running his lips over my jawline.

“That is not what he said,” I said with a laugh.

“I know, but that’s what I’m asking.” His lips were at my ear. “I can’t stop thinking about how close I was to your lips that night. You know how many times I’ve looked at that picture, wishing I hadn’t pulled you to your feet?”

I licked my lips as I looked up at him. “Really?”

Dustin took my hand. “Come upstairs with me, babe, I’ll show you what I mean.”

I let him lead me upstairs. We passed Naya’s room, her door was half open, and I could hear her telling whoever was on the phone that my hair was incredible. I shared a look with Dustin, who just rolled his eyes.

In his room, Dustin closed the door, and his mouth was on mine immediately. “I want you so fucking bad, Peterson,” he growled into my mouth. “Watching you all afternoon, my dick’s been like a rock, I just wanted to bend you over and fuck you, right there in the dining room.”

“I didn’t think your mom’s roast beef wasthatgood.” I yelped when he slapped my ass.

“Jemima Slater’s roast beef is the best there is.”

He was absolutely serious.

He stepped back. “Get on your knees and apologize.”

Something low in my stomach tightened at the command.

“Your family is downstairs.”

His hand was in my hair, pulling me to his body, his lips a breath from mine. “Get on your knees and apologize.”

Damn him. That look in his eye, dark and hungry, the command in his voice. I sank to my knees.

It was worth it for the groan he made.

Dustin’s fingers trailed along my jaw. “Open.”
