I dig into my bra and extract a thumb drive. “Can we save a copy?”

Hunter plucks the USB from my grip and inserts it, tapping away. “Yep. We’ll see if Tai can break into it.”

“Now who are the criminals?” I mutter under my breath, earning a smirk from Hunter.

Chapter thirty

Bexley

“You’re falling asleep again.”

My head jerks up and I blink rapidly at Hunter. “Nope. I was just resting my eyes.”

Ry chuckles to himself, scribbling something in his notebook. “Just admit you’re tired, Bex. Go lay down.”

“I’m fine,” I argue, muffling a yawn. “Let’s keep studying.”

The three of us are attempting to get a cram sesh in but somewhere between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, I started dozing off involuntarily. I can’t rest though. With each passing day I’m getting more and more anxious about the exams.

Dean Lannister has been riding my case, stalking the hallways and gleefully reminding me that my attendance record is on the cusp of failure. It’s not like I’m intending to take any time off this week, though I won’t lie it’s been awfully tempting to skip a class or three to sleep.

I’ll just sleep in a few weeks.

We’re officially down a study buddy tonight and I have to say it’s a little odd not having Tai here. It’s even stranger processing the fact that it’s because he and Archie are studying together for a shared class.

I offered for them to study here, but all the guys agreed it might be too distracting. Different notes and topic discussions will get confusing, and it’s best everyone uses the little time we have to stay on track.

“Want me to make you a coffee?” Ry offers, peering at me over the top of his notebook. “Or H can set up an IV to inject it directly into your veins?”

“Could you?” I beg pathetically, glancing over at Hunter. “Just make sure you get the needle in the first time. I don’t like them.”

His eyebrows shoot up. “Seriously? You literally take punches to the face all the time in the cage but you’re scared of a tiny little prick?”

“I’m not scared of you,” I answer without skipping a beat.

Ry breaks out laughing, leaning over to offer me a high-five. I slap his hand, mentally cursing myself when the room spins a bit from my sudden movements.

“Oh, you’re hilarious,” Hunter grunts. “Big words from someone who could be decimated by a small breeze right now.”

I flip him the middle finger silently before diving back into the notes.

Maybe it would have been better after all if I had taken a small nap. Absolutely nothing is absorbing, the words looking like Pig Latin the longer I stare. If anything, it’s going to put me further behind because I’ll have to re-read everything.

“Alright,” Ry says, gently plucking the book out of my hands. “Break time.”

“No,” I mumble, whining slightly. “I want to keep going.”

Ry shakes his head, putting the notebook out of my reach. “You look like shit. Take a ten minute break to clear your head and start fresh.”

“I agree,” Hunter interjects playfully. “I’m starting to feel a little sorry for you.”

I rest my head against the back of the couch, curling my knees into my chest. “Douchebag.”

“Duchess.”

“Dickhead,” I mumble, closing my eyes. “See—I’m fine. I could insult you all night. There’s no shortage of D words in my vocabulary.”

“Losersayswhat.”
