“Um, give me a second,” Elliot calls out before lowering his voice to a whisper. “What do we do?”
My eyes move over his body. “Here.” I rush toward him, ruffle his hair, unbutton the top of his shirt, and untuck one side of it.
“What the fuck are you doing?” he whispers.
Meanwhile, I turn my head toward the door and project my voice when I say, “Where’s my bra, honey?”
Elliot mouths, “What the fuck?” as I reach inside of my tank top, pop the clasp on my bra from the back, and then whip it out from the side under my arm, swinging it around my finger.
“Now open the door.”
“You are fucking insane,” he mutters before inhaling deeply and then turning the doorknob, finding Tori tapping her foot on the other side of the door, holding a manila folder. “Yes?”
Her eyes move down Elliot’s body and then over to me. I pop my brow as she glares in my direction. “The petition for divorce for the Russell family is ready for you to approve,” she says, shoving the folder into Elliot’s chest.
“Uh, thank you.”
Tori’s eyes move back to me and then land on Elliot’s face. “Is it true?”
“Is what true?” he replies.
Tori waves her hand between me and Elliot. “You two are…”
“Engaged,” I finish for her, fighting to keep my smile in check.
Tori rolls her eyes. “I was talking to Elliot.”
Taking a step closer to them, I press my chest into his back and slide my hand inside the opening in his shirt, running my nails through his short, coarse chest hair.
Damn, Elliot’s got man pecs. When the hell did that happen? And he manscapes? Huh. Definitely wouldn’t have guessed that.
“Well, since he’s my fiancé now, I think I feel qualified to answer on his behalf. So, to answer your question,” I say as I press a kiss to Elliot’s neck, and then lick up the side of it, “Yes, this man is all mine now. You snooze, you lose, Triple W.”
Tori’s face scrunches up. “Triple W?”
Elliot clears his throat. “It’s true, Tori. You left me, remember? And Dilynne was there to pick up the pieces.”
I waggle my eyebrows. “Lucky me.” Resting my left hand on Elliot’s shoulder, I nearly encase him in my arms now, which is harder than I thought because the man has broad shoulders and is several inches taller than me, but I make do.
Tori’s eyes land on my left hand as a smirk appears on her lips. “Then where is your ring?”
Elliot snaps his gaze to mine over my shoulder, silently cursing me, I’m sure.
But I keep my cool. “I work on cars for a living, Tori. I can’t wear jewelry, at least the traditional kind. That’s how you lose a finger in my industry.”
“She has a silicone band,” Elliot adds.
“And I left it at the shop,” I continue, smiling up at him. “Sorry, honey. I just forgot to put it on after I cleaned up last night.”
He tips my chin up with his free hand, smiling down at me. “You’re just not used to wearing a ring yet. Give it time.”
Elliot’s green eyes are penetrating mine, and there’s a sincerity in them right now that almost feels real.
It’s fake, Dilynne. He’s just slipping into his role, remember? And hey…he’s not as bad of an actor as you thought he might be.
I roll my lips between my teeth. “Sorry if that hurt you.”
His thumb drags along my jaw, sending a rush of electricity down my neck to my nipples. Jesus, it’s been far too long since I’ve gotten laid if a simple touch like that is making my body react. “Don’t apologize.”
