I tilt her face to look up at me.

“We’re gonna fight sometimes, Sorrel, that’s just part of it. But I need you to know, just because we don’t agree on something doesn't mean I’m gonna walk away.”

“God, I love how emotionally mature you are. It’s so hot.”

I laugh at that. “Well, I’ve got a few years on you and a little more life experience.”

“Oh yeah, old man?” she says, winking at me.

“Yeah, darlin’, I was on this earth for four years before you ever were. I learned a thing or two in my day.”

“Oh whatever. I’m about to be twenty-six and you're twenty-nine. It's not that big of a difference.”

“Just admit I, Denton Reed, know more than you, Sorrel Saxxon.”

“Never!” she says with a wicked grin as she creeps over, trying to tickle me.

We roll and wrestle and eventually start making out again, which leads to more mind-blowing love-making. I’m so in love with this wild cowgirl. I think she might be the one for me.

SORREL

After we make love for the third time that afternoon, we’re finally ready to finish our conversation about the tour. Denton explains to me how he told his agent Jake he would only agree to sign the contract ifthe venues are in or near towns that have pro rodeos.

“So, you really told him you would only do the tour if we could travel together?”

“Yeah, I did. He wasn’t happy about it, but I don’t give a flying fuck. I’m doing my best to make everyone happy, but you’re a priority for me now, Sorrel. I hope you know that.”

God, this man can’t be real. I don’t know what I did to deserve him. I’m so smitten with him it’s sickening.

“I know that, Denton. You are for me too. I just don’t want to be a burden to you when we’re on the road.”

I want to make sure he feels my support, and that he doesn't ever feel like he’s babysitting me while trying to be a rockstar.

He rolls his eyes. “Sorrel, you could never be a burden. You’re everything to me.”

I melt into him, at a loss for words. How does he always know the right thing to say to me?

I know life on the road probably won’t be as glamorous as it seems and there will undoubtedly be a lot of times when we won’t be able to see each other. But I believe him when he says he’ll do anything to make this work.

We’re both starving now after everything, so I heat us up some of the green chili enchiladas while Denton starts us a fire. He makes us a cozy spot on the floor in front of the fireplace with lots of blankets and pillows. It’s adorable and Dash is already burrowed under one of the blankets.

We sit down with our food and all we can see is Dash’s little nose sticking out from under the blanket sniffing at our food. We both laugh and it makes my heart happy that he loves my little dog. Most cowboys act all tough and hate on barrel racers having little sausage dogs. Not Denton though. He loves all dogs. His heart is so big and it makes me fall for him even more.

I still haven’t said “I love you” back but it doesn't seem to bother him. I know I’m falling in love with him but I’m just not ready to say it yet. Maybe a good lecture from Charli will give me some courage. I make a mental note to give her a call tomorrow morning.

“Hey, I have an idea,” I tell Denton, sitting up straighter with excitement.

“Oh yeah, what’s that?” he asks, shoveling in another mouthful of enchiladas.

“A concert. Here, tonight. We have new guests for the week. I bet they would love a free Denton Reed concert. Might get us a big tip,” I say, wagging my brows.

“Wha–what about my stuff?” he asks, shooting up and looking toward the guesthouse.

“Oh yeah, I meant to tell you when you got back today, but I figured you could just stay with me now. It doesn't feel right to keep charging you and I added you onto the payroll for the time being. Lucy brought your stuff over while you were gone thismorning. I guess you didn't notice it in the corner of my room.” I point toward his belongings, snickering.

“No, I was a little distracted, wasn't I?” he says, giving me a wink.
