“The FBI?”
He nods. “Detective Montague had me wired at the last Drop.” His shoulders slump. “Sinclair was supposed to be there, but he wasn’t. So I have to go to one more.”
The same dread I get when passing a bathtub coils in my gut.
“When?”
“They’re random.”
“Of course they are,” I scoff, picking a piece of lint off my jeans. Suddenly, a callused hand covers mine.
“Hey,” Sebastian murmurs. “I don’t want you worrying over this.”
Too late.
“I’m not.”
His brow arches.
“I’mnot.”
“Baby, you ain’t foolin’ anybody.”
I huff. “What happens if he finds out before the FBI gets him?”
A smile creeps across his mouth. “Aww, are you worried aboutme?”
“No,” I sputter.
He chuckles. “It’s ok to admit that you are.”
“It’s just that government organizations are notoriously corrupt?—”
The hand that was holding mine now loosely circles my throat. Everything in me is called to him on a cellular level.
“Stay the night,” he whispers, the words feathering over my lips as his thumb strokes my pulse.
“That’s a bad idea.”
He hums. “A terrible one.”
My gaze darts to his mouth. There’s a thin white scar next to his cupid’s bow. Back to his eyes. Bottomless pools of longing. Desire. Obsession. And something borderline insane.
I inhale as he exhales— cigarette smoke and citrus. Soft lips and rough stubble. Fingers gently squeeze… and I’m reeled into a familiar madness.

I can breathe again.
Kissing Cade is a sacrament, one I participate in with reverence for how precious it is. How privileged I am to taste his body and drink his venom. I worship his mouth, sucking and licking and nipping until he’s panting and fisting my shirt. Palming his waist, I coax him closer and closer until he’s straddling my lap. Soft moans flow from his throat as my hand slides to his ass.
“I missed this.”Kiss.
“Mmm?”
“Having you.”Kiss. “This close.”Kiss.
