“I know, brother.” I check my weapon again, my gut clenching as the realization of our situation starts to dawn.
I look at my men, one by one, and my mind is made up. Raising my hands above my head I slowly stand from where I’ve been squatting behind the bar.
“OK. OK. Let’s put our weapons down. Maybe we can sort something out.”
“Prez! What the fuck, get down!” Flack hisses from his place. I drop my hand enough to gesture to him to stand down.
A clean cut, dark haired man rises from where he’s been sheltering. His coloring awfully fucking close to that of the Landrys.
“Well, if it isn't the fearless Prez. Micheal ‘Dex’ Martin, right?”
My gut drops and I school my features. I haven’t heard my government name for a long fucking time. That's some shit thatno one outside of Chewy, Marx and the Matrix twins should know.
“Who else is back there, huh? What about Flack? Or should I say David Wright?”
“What the fuck?” Flack voices from beside me.
The dark haired man smirks, “Oh, we know all about your little club Mikey. Now, give us what we want, and God will let you live another day.”
“And if we don’t?”
“Then you die.”
I jump when the door bursts open and a roar accompanies my prospect, the big blonde avenging angel in my doorway.
I can’t help the grin on my face as the sound of “Who’s dying now?” echoes through the room.
Sage
“Babe.”
“Nope.” I shut Takoda down immediately.
I know he wants me to be the good little wife, sitting and waiting for him, but he’s shit outta luck there. The Keep is under attack and I’ll be damned if I sit back and watch as the chino army take down my home. Fuck that.
“Babe!” he barks, and I turn, brow raised.
“Be careful. Make sure you have a spare clip on you. Make sure you and Joe watch your backs.”
His gaze bores into mine and I dip my chin, before leaning into the backseat of the car and pressing a hard kiss to his lips.
“I’ll be careful,” I whisper against his lips. I stare at him a moment, “You’ll be safe?”
“Yeah. I’ll sit my pretty ass right here. Loyal’s armed and River looks like he bites, so we’ll be good.” He grins wide and now I’m not so sure it’s a good idea to leave them on their own.
“I’ve got him, Sage.” Loyal says, gun already in her hand. My eyes dart from her to River who is curled in the seat next to Takoda. “Both of them. Go raise hell.” She grins, wagging her brows at me and I thank the universe for giving her and my uncle another chance.
I take one last look before I shake it off, and turn on my heel. Damian is still hootin’ and hollerin’ from inside the clubhouse, but my focus is on the gunshots I can hear from behind the building.
“What the hell are they shootin’ back there?” Joe whispers as we move toward where the sound is coming from.
I share a look with Joe because it’s a good fucking question. There’s nothing really back there other than a secondary entrance to the cellar. If they have men inside already why would these guys be out here?
We silently move toward the noise, backs against the building as we slink closer. Fingers wrap around my elbow, and I know it ain’t Joe, she’s ahead of me. Taking a deep breath I spin in place, my hand coming up, gun at the ready.
“It’s me!” Omen whisper yells. “Fuck, Sagey,” he says, hands in the air in front of his face.
“What the hell dude!” I whisper yell back. “I could have shot you!”
