Moving in with the only currently single Daddy Dom might make for another point of jealousy, but it didn’t mean everyone would hate her.
“So, this would be as friends, or…” He looked at Brian.
“As friends,” Brian said firmly. He grinned and glanced at Morgan.“We have definitively determined that Morgan does not want a Daddy Dom.”
“No, I don’t,” Morgan said as firmly as Brian had. Both men smiled encouragingly at her.Feeling secure enough to say there was something she didn’t want was huge.“It would be purely platonic.Brian is my friend.”
She hadn’t called him Master Brian.Law felt like giving her a hug of congratulations, but he also didn’t want to overdo it.They were all trying to wean Morgan off of doing things for approval and instead doing them for herself.
Maybe he should see if Iris and Morgan would get along.Morgan could use a little bit of Iris’ ‘I do what I want’ influence.
“I think it sounds like a good idea,” he said carefully.“If you don’t want to, there are other options, and anyone who ‘hates’ you because of where you live or who you live with isn’t worth your time.In fact, that would be a good way to determine what kind of person they are.Someone who is overly jealous or possessive will show it a lot sooner if you’re living with Brian.”
Morgan opened her mouth… closed it, and a thoughtful expression slid over her face. After a moment, she nodded and looked at Brian again.
“I’ll think about it.”She kept her voice firm, and Law felt like cheering, but he didn’t want to make too big a deal of it.He could tell from Brian’s expression, the other Dom felt the same way.
“Good.Thank you.”Brian grinned.“I could use a roommate, too, you know.Cut down on costs.I used to have a roommate, and now I’m stuck paying for a two-bedroom condo on my own.”
“Okay… oh, hey, there’s Caroline.”Morgan gave them both another smile as she waved.“I promise I’ll think about it.”She flounced off to her friend.
“She’s making good progress,” Law said.
“She is.”Brian sighed.“I hope she takes me up on it, though.I’m a little worried about what kind of situation she might end up in on her own.”
Weren’t they all?It was a delicate balance, trying to give someone like Morgan the space she needed to make her own decisions while also keeping her safe as she learned to navigate her own life.
“Oh, hey, Kincaid and Zach are here.Want to join us?”The invitation seemed sincere, so Law nodded.
“Sure, thanks.”It had been a while since Law had tried hanging out with anyone new, but Asad and Connor were still MIA, and it had been good getting to know Q the other night.Maybe he needed to relax and branch out a little.
Plus, conversation with people he didn’t usually talk to would hopefully help him keep his mind off Iris and the unsettling realization of how much he was looking forward to scening with her next week.
ChapterSix
Iris
The one problem with reading e-books instead of paperbacks was she didn’t dare throw her e-reader across the room, even when she really wanted to.Like when she finished a book that was just so damn good, but she needed the next one in the seriesright now,and it wasn’t available.
It hadn’t taken her long to finish the book because she’d been so focused on reading, she’d zipped right through it.Now, what was she supposed to do with the rest of her night?
No book.No Noelle.No Stronghold.
Sitting around alone didn’t really appeal to her.She usually read when she had alone time, but now she was feeling antsy because she couldn’t read the book shewantedto read since it wouldn’t be available for months.
Maybe she should see what her other friends were doing tonight.Noelle might not like it, but she had been the one to ditch Iris.Besides, she should be out all night with Tyler, and as long as Iris never mentioned it, Noelle would never know.
Iris picked up her phone and tapped out a message in the group text she had with Rae, Domi, and Avery.
I don’t have to go into Stronghold, but my plans got canceled for the night… are you all up to anything?
She’d barely gotten to her feet when her phone made a quacking noise and buzzed with a response from Rae.The duck’s quack was the perfect text notification since she’d never met anyone else who used it.
Avery’s at work. We’re heading to Marquis in an hour to hang at the bar until she can join us.Wanna come?
Happiness lit up the inside of Iris’ chest.
Sounds good.I’ll see you there!
