Sebastian gestures toward them to confirm that they’re the couple I’m talking about, but I grab his wrist. “Gah! Don’t point!”

“Nobody saw.”

“But they could have! Let the kids enjoy their privacy.”

He laughs. “There’s nothing private about going to a baseball game with forty thousand other fans in the stadium.”

“Still! I don’t want to burst their romantic little bubble.”

We watch as Kaya throws popcorn at Ben and he tries to catch the kernels in his mouth.

“Okay. They are kind of cute,” Sebastian admits.

“See? I think we need to revisit the company rule about not fraternizing with colleagues. Peer romances should be acceptable, just not anything between superiors and subordinates. I’ll go over the language when I get back to the office and type up an amendment for you to sign off on.”

He pulls me against him and kisses the top of my head. “That’s my wife, the hopeless romantic.”

“I wouldn’t say that,” I counter. “I just enjoy a bit of juicy gossip from time to time.”

“Is that so?”

Before I can respond, the crack of the bat against the ball cuts through the air and the stadium erupts in a roar. I raise my fist and let out a whoop of excitement along with the crowd. Sebastian and I could have sat in the owner’s skybox, but it’s more fun to watch the game out here in the stands where we can really experience the energy of all the fans. I look longingly at Sebastian’s beer, the outside of the plastic cup dripping beads of condensation under the hot sun.

“Finish it,” he says, passing it to me and starting to stand. “I’ll go get us another round.”

“We can share it,” I tell him, hooking a finger through his belt loop and tugging him back down to his seat. “Let’s get through this inning first.”

I take a gulp, let out an audible “Ahhh,” and then pass the cup back to Sebastian. Then I scan the immediate crowd. We’re up top where all the elite spectators sit, and there’s always plenty of good people-watching to be had. But then my jaw drops and I smack Sebastian on the arm again.

“Look, there’s Mr. Barclay, a few rows ahead!” I hiss. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen him at a game before.”

Sebastian follows my gaze with zero subtlety, but Mr. Barclay isn’t looking our way. In fact, he looks uncomfortable and like he doesn’t want to be here. I wonder why he came. Probably to grease the wheels of some investor clients, if I had to guess.

Leaning closer to my husband, I whisper, “I heard his business is in hot water right now. His family are clients of the matchmaking agency, right? Does that affect your bottom line?”

Sebastian quickly kisses me to stop that line of conversation, probably so no one overhears, and I sink into the kiss, wanting more. I always want more. His hand cups my cheek, then slides around to the back of my head where he gathers a fistful of hair. A soft moan escapes me.

“Let’s focus on more important topics,” Sebastian says in between kisses.

“Like what?”

“Like whether you’d like to give me a private tour of the owner’s box?” He lowers his voice even more. “And whether or not you’re wearing panties.”

“Are those two things even related?” I tease, already out of my seat.

“God, I hope so,” he says.

“We’d better go find out, then.” I grab his hand and tug him to his feet, a grin playing at my lips. “I have a feeling the Rockets aren’t the only ones who’ll be hitting a home run this inning.”
