“These kids are going to take over the world.”

“That is the plan, Moon. They are going to lead, protect, and carry on the legacy. We will guide and teach them—that’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

I nod. “We will, and we will not be alone.” I look at my friends, who will be with us throughout the journey.

“I think they are going to surpass us all.”

I think they are going to do much more than that.

Fifteen Years Later

Damon

I knew that our kids were destined for amazing things, because of the way they trusted and believed in each other. They grew up together, and they have an unbreakable bond.

“You do not ever touch my sister!” Axel and Gabe shout in the face of a guy who dared to grab Hope and leave a mark on her arm.

“She is pretty!” he whines, like that is an excuse for anything.

Hope comes out of nowhere with Emma at her back. “I will show you pretty!” She punches him right in the face. He hits the ground like a ton of bricks. My kids are fucking badass. I could not be prouder of the way they are.

“I think I hate men,” Hope says, her face in a beautiful scowl. It should be a fucking crime for my daughter to be that beautiful.

The other day, when she was walking out of school, I watched three boys fucking run into a wall. Pissed me right the fuck off. Her brothers are always following her, scaring them off. I raised them right and it drives Hope crazy.

“What happened?” Farren runs to me. She looks half panicked, which is normal.

“Some guy grabbed her arm.”

Her head snaps around to me. “He what?” She snarls, “I will teach the little shit respect. No one touches my daughter.”

I laugh and wrap my arms around her. “You think if it hadn’t been handled that the fucker would be breathing right now? Hope knocked his ass out.”

She lets out a deep breath. “Well, he needs more than that,” she grumbles and I laugh again.

Hope lets her scowl drop and goes back to smiling. She is a beam of light and happiness. She is pure and so fucking good, I want to protect her from everything.

Aiden runs up to Hope. “Are you okay?”

She nods, her face angry again. “He just grabbed my arm.”

Aiden looks at her arm. “What the fuck?”

“Ohh, I believe someone has a crush,” Farren says.

“Don’t say that shit,” I scold her.

She laughs and takes my hand. “Come on, baby, they don’t need us much anymore.” I can hear slight sadness in her words.

It is true; it’s like they fucking grew up overnight. One day they started taking care of each other and doing whatever it takes to protect each other. It’s fucking inspiring and sad. One day they want to hold your hand and be led through everything, and before you know it, they take off on their own.

Hope is twenty. God, where did the time go?

Farren leads me inside our house, slams the door, and pushes me against it. She grins at me seductively. I chuckle, and she grips my shirt and rips it from top to bottom.

“Take off your pants,” she growls.

“Whatever Moon wants, she gets.” I step out of my pants and pick her up.
