He even ignored his own rampaging desire. He was as hard as steel and painful. By the time he reached the core of her, she was mindless, delirious with a passion that threatened to consume her. His name was on her lips, her body vibrating and lifting towards his ruthless mouth.

She could not bear it. She was going to die. She was burning up. It felt as if the fire in the hearth had been transferred to her vulnerable body.

Sliding his hands under her hips, he used his tongue and teeth to ravish her. By the time he slid his tongue into the wet warmth of her, she was far gone. The climax was shattering! She screamed, her body trembling so much, he had to hold her steady as he delicately and slowly sipped from her, loving the musky taste of her on his tongue.

Her body was coated with a thin layer of moisture, her nipples so hard, they were painful. When he finally covered her body with his and drove into her, she was sobbing.

Seizing her lips, he tasted the saltiness of her tears as he increased the thrusts, his own body already shattering.

Flopping back on the cushions, he cradled her against him and fought to bring his own erratic breathing under control. They remained silent for a few minutes, the only sounds in the room, their uneven breathing and the crackling of the fire in the hearth.

Taking several deep breaths, Indigo decided that it was time.

"I have something to say."

"Hmm." His eyes were still closed, his body still vibrating.

"I'm in love with you." She felt his body stiffening and rushed on before she lost her nerve. "I've been in love with you for a while. Ever since we were married and I discovered that I could talk to you. That you're approachable. I know I'm not your type and I come with a lot of baggage and my family history is all screwed up, but I love you, Brant." She was talking to the strong column of his throat, not brave enough to look at his face for fear of seeing the rejection there. Or that she had spoken too soon."And I want children. Please, God! I want four of them, two boys and two girls. And I want a proper wedding. The dress will not be white, of course, because please, ice blue and designed by the experts at Romano's. I want my brother and my second best friend there, because you're my first best friend. I will make you happy, I swear I will..."

She lifted her head and stared into his eyes, and when he would have said something, she placed two long fingers vertically over his mouth. "Please let me finish. I will be there for you all the time. I will never cheat on you, because I love you, Brant, so much that it hurts here." She fisted a hand on her chest. "I cannot breathe when you're near me and I love you, oh God, I love you so much and I know you care for me; I just want you to love me back. Please love me back. I swear you won't regret it and I know I'm rambling, but I want to get it all out. I want a proper wedding in a church, a small church with just family and friends there. And I would like to give you a ring to show the world that you belong to me as I belong to you. If you don't want one, that's fine, but I hope you do." She sucked in a breath and became silent.

His tawny gaze was steady on hers, his face expressionless.

"Are you finished? Am I allowed to speak now?"

"Yes. No. If I cannot have children..." She closed her eyes briefly. "We will find a surrogate and I'm asking you not to leave me."

He waited a beat and had to quell the amusement from showing. "Finished now?"

She nodded.

"Sure?"

"Yes."

Clamping his fingers on her chin, he held her face steady. "That was quite a speech." He smiled at her tenderly. "And you preempted me." His expression turned sober. "In case you hadn't been paying attention over the last few weeks, let me make it crystal clear for you. I'm in love with you, darling." He smiled as her eyes flooded. "I ran away when I realized that I was in danger of going under. But it was no use. I was already under and completely covered. It started right when we spent that weekend together and we talked, just talked. I was intrigued by you, your voice, your dazzling smile, the color of your magnificent eyes and of course your dimples. I wanted you then and it only got worse. I've never felt this way before and I never will again. I love you completely. I love the way you feel in my arms as if you belong there. I don't care..." He shook his head. "Yes, I want children as well, but that's secondary and you don't have to beg me to stay." Bending his head, he brushed his lips over hers. "I'm not going anywhere. And yes to the real wedding. And yes to wearing your ring because I want the world to know that I'm yours. Pick the date and I'm there." Removing his hand from her chin, he wiped the tears that trickled down her cheeks.

"I love you, my sweet, and always will." He covered her mouth with his, the kiss so tender, so potent that it had her crying even harder.

He kissed the tears on her cheeks and returned to crush her lips with his. Indigo felt the love exploding inside her as she clung to him, her heart full.

Chapter 13

"April," she murmured drowsily, stirring in his arms. He had made love to her again and was reluctantly allowing her to sleep.

"Pardon?"

"For the wedding. I want a spring wedding."

Tilting his head down, he stared at her curled up against him. "You're supposed to be asleep."

She smiled dreamily, fingers splayed over his impressive chest. "I'm about to, but I'm so excited. What will your mother say?"

With a resigned sigh, he shifted so he could see her face.

"She'd be delighted. We could tell her tomorrow."

"We could invite her for supper instead of going to her place. I could cook-"
