Sophie slinked out from between us and made a beeline first for my brothers. I watched her go, only looking away when Daniel brushed his fingers against the top of my hand.

“This was a perfect day, I think,” he said.

I breathed deep, nodding in agreement. “I’m not sure I ever thanked you.”

“For what?”

We faced each other, his eyes dark and earnest as they searched my face for an explanation.

“For not closing the door in my face the night Sophie invited me over.”

I’d thought about my past with Daniel an embarrassing amount, and I knew how close I’d been to never having all of this, to losing it before I even knew whatitwas.

“I think I might have loved you then,” he said. “Before.”

“No.”

“Not in the way I love you now, but…I think I’ve known, even when you weren’t yourself, that you were it for me. You and her.”

“Daniel,” I fought his name out through gritted teeth.

“When did you know we were it for you?”

“The first night,” I admitted.

“Then why is it so difficult to believe I knew the same about you, just…longer?”

I opened my mouth to answer, but Daniel stopped me with a kiss.

“You deserve this,” he said, tongue dragging across my lower lip. “And so do we, right?”

His body burned hot against mine, and I took his face into my hands, kissing him back until I couldn’t see straight.

“Right?” he repeated.

“We deserve it.”

“Then let’s go get Sophie and make sure we’re all on the same page, yeah?”

“Of course.” I pulled back enough to see his face, the want in his eyes, the ownership. “Always.”

CHAPTER 42

FINN

Monday morning, I woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside the window and the hot wetness of Daniel’s mouth around my cock. He sucked me off quickly and quietly, swallowing down every drop of cum before dropping his head back on the pillow and closing his eyes.

“I heard that,” Sophie murmured from my other side.

I reached over and tickled my fingers across her hip and lower.

“I don’t even know how you’re conscious after last night.”

She hummed something that sounded like a laugh but didn’t have the energy to fully realize itself.

We’d spent Saturday night in a gorgeous hotel on the beach, then hopped on a plane for Denver on Sunday afternoon. The drive to the hotel took a couple of hours and once we got settled in, it was dinnertime. We ate at the hotel, enjoyed some of the best snickerdoodle cookies I’d ever had in my life, then returned to the room early to enjoy a free bottle of wine and a private hot tub.

Daniel and I had lavished Sophie with all the attention we could muster, sucking and fucking and teasing her to within an inch of consciousness. She fell asleep first, and Daniel wentsecond, he and I face to face on the bed, noses almost touching. After his lids grew too heavy to hold open and he went under, I rolled onto my back and waited for my turn. I’d dreamed of things we’d never discussed, of the home we’d build together, the things we’d fill it with. The possibilities for our future were endless.
