The orgasm surged through me so suddenly, it was like being hit with an immense crosswind. Ecstasy detonated in my center and rippled outward, making everything feel warm and blissed out.
Ethan slowed, kissing my neck as I came, but he barely let me recover before he began to move, this time for him. Aftershocks of my climax rolled through me in waves as he drove furious and deep. He grunted, rutting into me, and it was the fucking sexiest thing I’d ever heard.
The arms wrapped around me were thick, corded muscles, and I could feel them trembling with fatigue, but he didn’t stop. I gripped the rail tighter, the edges hard in my fingers as I pulled up to help take some of my weight off him.
To allow him to fuck me as hard and fast as he needed.
A groan rumbled in his chest before bursting past his lips, and he jerked. His thrusts fell out of rhythm, fading as he came violently. He drew in enormous pants of air, gently lowering me until my toes scraped the floorboards and I could stand again.
We stood like that for a long while, shuddering and recovering and trying to catch our breath.
All the while, he held me close. God, I’d never give him up.
Eventually, he straightened and turned me in his arms so he could give that intense look that had started it all. Our kiss was slower, softer, like we were temporarily sated. When it ended, he stepped back into his pants and jerked them up so they sat undone and low across his hips.
“I’ll be right back.”
The boards creaked louder when he moved swiftly to the end of the row, one hand disappearing inside his pants to tug off the condom. While he tossed it in the trash, probably the one by the door, I began to get dressed.
But I was momentarily distracted by the sight of the shirtless man who came back to me. Shit, he was so handsome. For all the hell the Abramos had put us through, without them, we never would have found each other.
“That was amazing,” I said while sliding my bra back on, “but next time, can we do that in a bed?”
He smiled. “I already booked us a hotel for the next two nights.”
Once we’d dusted off our clothes and finished getting dressed, I’d expected him to lead me out of the stacks, but instead he kissed me like he wasn’t in any rush.
“What happens after?” I asked abruptly.
“After?”
“The two nights.”
He considered it for a moment. “You’re welcome to stay. I’m sure my family would love to have you for Christmas.” He paused, unsure. “But I thought you’d want to head back to Detroit.”
Like him, I hadn’t been home for Christmas in years. I nodded. “Yeah, for a visit, but I’m not staying there.”
His eyebrows tugged together. “You have somewhere else in mind?”
“I was thinking Munich.”
Excitement lit his eyes. “You’re taking Shawn’s offer?”
The idea of joining the CIA was thrilling and flattering, but Ethan’s words had played in a loop in my mind since our dinner in Washington.
You have to give up a lot.
I’d seen the sacrifice his family had made, and the thought of sacrificing him made my blood run cold.
“That depends,” I said. “Where will you be?” Because thatwas all I cared about.
“Southern Germany.” His smile was coy. “But I’m sorry, I can’t be more specific about the location.” He kissed me eagerly, thrilled. “What made up your mind?”
“Oh, please, Ethan. It wasn’t even close. I like danger. And you? You’re the most dangerous thing I’ve ever seen.” I rose onto my toes to kiss him. “You’re all I need.”
