It took a couple of hours, and partway through, Razor had their own lawyer come into the house and work on the paperwork needed for Jamie Carmichael.

Doc left long enough to make his way back to the trailer park to find Jamie and June playing on the small patch of earth outside their trailer. He’d noticed the car she had the other day.

Jamie got to her feet the moment he arrived, and she looked a little troubled.

“Is everything okay?”she asked.

“Pack your things,” Doc said.“Your house is waiting for you, and I’ve already got a locksmith changing the locks, so you won’t have to worry.”

“You did all of that for me?”Jamie asked.“What do you want?”

Doc looked at the little girl and smiled.“You love your daughter. That is all I ask.”

“But you didn’t have to do this, not for anyone.”

“I know what I did and didn’t have to do.Consider this something I wanted to do.”He offered her a smile, but Jamie looked doubtful.“I’m a man who believes in responsibility.Wilson used you, and he had a responsibility to take care of you and your little girl.I cannot abide men who run at the first chance they get.I never ran, and trust me, there were days I wanted to.I never did.I love my daughter.Kids are everything.”

Jamie had tears in her eyes.

He crouched down toward June.“I bet you’re missing your old room, aren’t you?”he asked.

June nodded, ran toward him, and threw her arms around him. He’d seen the footage of how easy it was for Wilson to discard his family, and the very thought of any man doing that filled him with disgust. There was a chance he’d kill Wilson someday, but that day was not today. He’d keep a close eye on that son of a bitch.

Doc waited for Jamie and June to pack up their car, and Wilson’s life hung in the balance, because he knew he’d sold a great deal of their belongings and it pissed him off.

June and Jamie got into the car and made their way out of the trailer park.Doc followed close behind and didn’t overwhelm them, but the moment he got to the house, several of the other Chaos Monsters MC members had arrived.

News had spread fast about what he’d done, and there was a lot of support, yet a lot of hatred for Wilson.Neighbors who had purchased June’s old toys, as well as Jamie’s belongings, returned them. For their trouble, Doc made sure to reimburse them. There were a lot of people in Jamie’s neighborhood that had her back, and that was good to see.

All they needed was someone willing to put Wilson in his place.

Chapter Twelve

Maeve heard what Docdid. She heard how happy the town had been, and she listened to every piece of gossip as she worked at Kristin Shaw’s.By the end of closing, she didn’t know if Doc was going to be there to pick her up.He’d dropped her off in town that morning, but she hadn’t expected him to be there to pick her up.

Only, as she stepped out of Kristin’s shop, he was right there. She couldn’t help dropping her own personal makeup bag to the floor, she ran the few feet toward him and threw herself into his arms.
