He nods. “The accountant.”
I consider that for a moment. Savannah isn’t exactly a name I would expect for an accountant, but I’ll reserve judgement. As Brayden said, if Dex trusts her, she must be good.
“Alright. We’ll table the idea until we know where things stand.” I put the papers away and lean back against the chair. “Do you think this Savannah woman will figure things out soon enough to meet our timeline for the third location?”
Brayden flips his phone around in his hand. It’s been his nervous habit for years and is a sign of his stress.
“I sure as shit hope so. Our budget projections for Soho are dependant on the profits from Fortune remaining stable. If we can’t stem the loss, we’re fucked.”
The seriousness of our situation silences us both for a moment. He’s right. Our plan for the year was to open a third location. That can’t happen if we don’t figure out what’s going on at Fortune. Our somber musings are interrupted by the arrival of a waitress. In the signature uniform of all our restaurants, black dress pants and a white button-down shirt, she shouldn’t seem so provocative, but this girl has her shirt just barely buttoned high enough to contain her tits, and her pants look like they were painted on. Part of me wants to cite her for inappropriate work attire, the other part just wants to admire the view.
I’d have to be dead not to notice the slow smile she gives me after she takes our drink order, and as she sashays away, my eyes follow.
“Don’t, Alex. Just don’t.” Brayden sighs and when I glance up, his lips are pinched, and I can tell he’s exasperated with my open perusal of our waitstaff.
I shrug. “Whatever are you talking about?” Then I let a slow smile creep across my face as I lift my arms to spread across the back of the booth. “I’m allowed to observe our staff, aren’t I?”
“Not if it earns us a harassment complaint.”
I sit up straight. “B, you know I would never do something that would jeopardize our company.”
He lets out a long sigh. “I know you wouldn’t. I also know you enjoy beautiful women, and because I know you a littletoowell, I know you haven’t gotten laid in a while. If you’re in need of company, all I ask is that you look somewhere other than our waitress.”
As Brayden echoes my earlier thoughts, I think about it. True, it has been a long time since I enjoyed the company of a woman in my bed. And the waitress, attractive as she is, isn’t what I’m looking for. The beautiful woman from the pool crosses my mind and I smile at Brayden. Time to solve two problems at once. Get laid and get mystery woman off my mind so I can focus on work.
“You’re right, my fine friend, as always.”
Next time I see her at the pool, she’s going to get a full dose of Alexander Devlin charm. That should satisfy both my needs and her…well, her.
