“Monthsago,” he rebukes, kneading my ass because he can. “I’m not playin’ around, sweetheart.”
“I see that.”
Micah reaches around, and the next minute, he has a small box between his fingers.
A ring box.
“Sienna Vesper, I think I’ve loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you in that bar. I knew after that night, when you fucked me like you owned me, that I was never gonna want to befree from the confines of your life. Please…make me the happiest man alive and marry me?”
Immediate tears well up in my eyes because I don’t know how much moreperfectI can take in one night.
But this one is memorable.
It’s divine.
It’s mine and ours, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for us down the line.
In fact, I kinda already know.
“Micah?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m pregnant.”
Silence for a few beats before I hear him mutter, “Fuck.”
Then his mouth is on mine again, and I realize I never answered his damn question.
The important one.
“Yes,” I mutter between lapses, and his tongue giving me the slightest moment to get a word in.
“Damn right it’s a yes,” he growls. “Fuck seven months.” He pulls away from me suddenly. “Shit, do we have seven months?”
“We’d be cutting it close.”
“Before or after.”
“What?”
“Do you want to get married before or after the baby is born?”
Easy.
“Before. That way you can walk around town tellin’ everyone that you got your wife pregnant.”
He smiles, big and jolly, and, man, does it look good on him. “I’m gonna shut the hell up and not talk anymore about weddings. I don’t want to rush you now.”
I perk a brow. “Oh really? Sounds like you were just chompin’ at the bit to get me to tell you I loved you. Then you proposed. Then you said seven months?—”
“Alright, alright,” he imparts, amusement embedded in his tone. “I got it. Whatever you want, sweetheart. Just put the damn ring on.”
Taking the box from him, I can’t see much of the ring, but it doesn’t matter what it looks like. Micah takes it from the box, slides it down my finger, and lays another one of his cocky Southern boy kisses on me.
“You’ve made me the happiest man alive, Miss Vesper. I’m going to love you until the day I die.”
“You better,” I muse with a kiss. “Or I’m gonna tell everyone you broke the rules.”
THE END
