“I got you, girl.”
Cleo took off down the hall as Addison sifted through the pictures while simultaneously watching the glass. She pulled up Cleo’s contact info to send the pictures when her body was thrust forward from someone slamming against her back. Her drink spilled over the rim and down her hand.Shit!
“I don’t know you!”
Addison looked over her shoulder to find Jane at her back and a man a foot away. He was well over six foot, and huge in comparison to the tiny girl. His swarmy smile seemed to brighten, and he stepped closer.
“I remember you. We had a good time. Don’t be like this.”
By the time Addison fully turned, Jane was pushing through the crowd, heading toward the front door. The man howled andshook his head but didn’t follow her. She had no idea what’d happened, but she didn’t hesitate. Addison put her glass on the bar and weaved through the crowds until she made it to the front porch. Surprisingly, it was empty. She walked down the stairs looking across the yard. There were tons of motorcycles, cars and trucks but no sight of Jane. She started around the building when she saw a figure about fifty feet away.It has to be her. What started as a light jog turned into a steady run by the time she caught up with her.
“Jane!”
She looked back but hadn’t slowed her steps until recognition flashed across her eyes.
Addison’s breath was heavy. “Are you okay? What happened?”
She glanced behind Addison then the entire yard. If she was afraid she’d been followed, there was no worry. They were the only two out there.
“It’s just us.” She swallowed her breath. “I saw that guy. Was he harassing you?”
“No,” she mumbled and started to walk away.
I don’t believe her.Addison watched her stop fifteen feet away. Jane covered her face with her hands and her shoulders slumped. Addison slowly approached. Jane was clearly distressed and as she got closer, she saw the reason. Jane’s car had been boxed in.
“Shit.” She snapped and whipped around, widening her eyes when she saw Addison again. Jane must’ve thought she went back to the party.
Jane stalked toward her. “Do you have a car?”
What?
Her voice was very calm, unlike her panicked tone from a few minutes ago. Was she in shock? From the man? Addisonhadn’t seen their whole interaction, but it had definitely shaken up Jane.
“Yeah, it’s right over there.” She hooked her thumb over her shoulder. She’d arrived later than expected and got one of the last spots on the property.
Jane clutched the strap of her bag wrapped over her chest. “I need you to take me somewhere.”
Addison raised her brows. “What?”
“I have to go, and my car is blocked. You have to drive me.”
Addison inched closer, and Jane retreated.
She held up her hands. “What happened? Was that man bothering you? I can get one of the guys. Wraith or Cross?”
“No,” she snapped, and her gaze shifted. “You have to take me now.”
Something was completely off.
“Okay, but let’s go inside and we’ll find out who is blocking your car and have them move.”
“No!” she screamed. “Don’t you get it?” She pointed to the clubhouse. “They’re part of it. He’s friends with them. That’s why he’s here. They’re all part of it.”
She cocked her head, focusing on her tone. Jane was now on the verge of hysteria, speaking irrationally, and not making sense.
“Part of what, Jane?”
She shook her head. “Just take me to Inez.”
