Subject: Hi
Dear Calista,
Thank you so much for your story, and I am thrilled to be part of it. I was so happy to hear the happy ending. Sounds like little Charlotte will be just fine. I’d love to meet her one day.
I have great news, too. Little Haley has been found. She’s safe and back with her family.
You will always hold a special place in my heart, too, Calista. You’ve changed my life in more ways than you’ll ever know.
Love,
Anna
P.S. I’m coming back home for Thanksgiving. Let’s get together!
“You havean extra one of those for me,” Jordan asked with a smirk. Jordan is another Trickster, a joker, the fun guy you want around at a party. He’s also crude, and has the annoying habit of talking too much and ruffling people’s hair. To Leo’s dismay, he’s also his dorm roomie.
“Sure,” Alicia chirped. “We have tons. Kendra got, like, four boxes.”
“Thanks, by the way,” I said to him, “for sneaking us in here.”
Lucas, another dorm mate of Leo’s peeked in. “He’s still in his room. He’s just reading some book.” He smirked. “Such a brownnoser.”
“Good…” I said. “That’s disgusting. You boys are gross,” I blurted out when I opened the microwave door -- it was pretty scary inside. The boys’ common room was, in comparison to the girls’, a total disaster; granola bar wrappers littered the floor, empty bottles covered the coffee table, and there was popcorn all over the sectional.
Lucas walked into the kitchen. “So you’re like, famous now… you and Ace Rogers.”
I rolled my eyes. Haley’s story had been all over the news. Thankfully, Simone had refused to disclose our names, photos, and information, as well as interview requests from the media. We were only identified as students from the Renaissance Academy of Mentalist Studies, but everyone at RAMS knew who we were. “Yeah, my fifteen minutes of fame. I’m sure it’ll die down soon.”
“She’s being humble,” Kendra broke in. “They were amazing.”
I turned to her, full of emotion. “Thanks for this, by the way. I really appreciate it.”
“No probs. I’m lucky that I have an auntie nearby. It makes it easy to get my hands on stuff.”
A flustered Alicia barged in, pushing a rolling cart. “Sorry, I’m late, guys.”
I pressed 1, 3, and 0 on the digital pad on the microwave. “No, you’re just in time.”
She beamed. “I’ve got all the stuff.”
“Where did you get all this?” I asked, both thrilled and curious.
“Well, the flower is from my room, and the rolling cart, tray and the tablecloths are from the dining hall.”
“You stole them?”
She smiled. “I didn’t steal them, I’m just borrowing them.”
“You’ll get in trouble!” I didn’t want Alicia to get in trouble because of me and my silly little plans.
