“Why haven’t you mentioned this before?” Cassie asks. “A Colton Rossi sighting is abig deal.”

Miriam cracks up. “Well, it’s not like he’s a moose or anything.”

Cassie laughs. “I bet he’s hung like a moose though.”

My jaw drops. “Cassie!!”

She shrugs. “What?! Don’t tell me your mind hasn’t gone there.”

Well, it has. But I’m not about to admit that. I can’t deny it… I have studied his long fingers and big feet with great interest.

We end the evening drowning in laughter, which is the perfect way to finish a night as far as I’m concerned. We offer to walk Miriam home, but she insists she’s fine with her flashlight. None of us are really concerned. There hasn’t been a bear sighting in ages, and this small town is as safe as a town can get. People look out for each other here, and we all feel very secure.

Cassie crashes on the futon, half-drunk, as per usual. Christian will surely jump on her in the morning and give her a rough awakening. She’s not crazy about that at all. I tell him to simmer down, but he never listens. Despite these rough wake-up calls, she adores him. And he adores her.

Cassie and I are great friends. I should have told her about my movie night with Colton. I don’t know why I didn’t mention it. I was afraid Christian would spill the beans, but he didn’t. I suppose I think about the night as a one-off. I don’t want to go down that road. I just know if I tell her about it, Cassie will get super excited and insists on talking about the night ad nauseam, and I really don’t need that right now, especially since I’m desperately struggling to forget all about him.

And that certainly hasn’t been easy so far.
